Because the people in the UK pay council tax and income tax, meaning the local council can afford to keep the cities clean.

Nigeria....we don't pay those type of taxes. Our budget for a year is what the UK spends policing its people in one year.

So, if you want UK level in Nigeria, pay UK level taxes. But Nigerians will start with 'we are poor'

Annual council tax in band A areas cleethorpes is about 1387 pounds...that's over 700000 naira per annum. If government for this country started charging that...especially in that Benin you live, would you guys be happy?
my council tax was 100 pounds a month. I had a house. 4 rooms. Really big house. Pls come on.

Even the pension people pay. Do govt not steal ur ? Nigerians will pay tax. If they trust the govt. but na ole tinubu buhari. Amechi they power. So Nigerians will celebrate mediocrity. Build mansion right in front of refuse dump site. Tueh

Don't be fooled. I am into real estate in Abuja. Most of the rich guys hardly live in these houses. If you're talking about the rich guys, are you talking about the politicians? If they're the one, majority of them don't live in Nigeria. They live in Dubai, US, London, Monaco and some offshore islands. It's only when they're coming for plenary at the National Assembly or their state to collect money they come to inspect these properties. Majority don't live there. They live outside Nigeria.

Well, we don't have council taxes in Nigeria because you Nigerians don't want to pay it.

Let's be honest. If we all paid taxes like council tax, we would have a big eye on what government does well well, and put more pressure on them to do the right thing...and thus they would not steal. Because it is directly affecting us.

I'm not blind. Corruption exists in Nigeria. (It's why I cannot in good cosncience vote for PDP or APC since 2003 when I first voted). BUT.....the fact is, there isn't enough money to pay for what we need to keep our cities looking good as well. The corruption and mismanagement makes things worse.

Plus when Tinubu, Buhari, and company were not in power, Nigerians were not paying enough in tax EITHER. Even when you have leaders you like...like most of us Southerners like GEJ....we no go gree.

We rely on oil money for everything in this country...and we live under the delusion that it is enough. It is enough for a country of ten million people or less, not 210 or 100 million people like Nigeria. That's where the payment of taxes comes in. But since most of us don't pay taxes because we are poor, government services are bad (and then the stealing too makes things worse.)

You get what you pay for. No council tax in Benin, Lagos, Owerri, Kano, Abuja, etc....no money for better municipal servicies. And our budget, need I remind you, is not up to one quarter of what the UK spends on healthcare.

Our tax to gdp ratio is 8.1%, in the UK it is 34%. See the problem

P.S

Pension thieves got caught. Some of them have gone to jail self.

P.S 2

UK budget for 2021...one trillion pounds. for 60 million people. Nigerian budget: 28 billion pounds for 200 million people. Expecting UK level service on that low a budget is magical thinking really.

Where I stay in Abuja, bike is not allowed in. If you're a mason you will need to take cab or walk down even if where you're going is far.
Sometimes when I have someone over to work at my place and he tells me he's at the main gate I drive down to pick them or drop.them off.because deep within me I know it's farr
Some estates allow bikes while some don't. This one could be allowing bikes.

I'm sure you guys have heard of Asokoro, Maitama, Wuse and the likes but one place some people may not have heard is the new abode of the super rich in Nigeria's capital of Abuja.

Welcome to KATAMPE EXTENSION, a place where the rich and powerful live and it's just a few minutes outside the city center.

A 5 bedroom duplex here can go for as much as 400 million Naira while to rent a 3 bedroom flat can go for as much as 3 million Yearly.

I took a short drive around this neigbourhood to show you guys
Asokoro 3 bedroom 3m… where pls?

It is not the duty of the rich to close the gap between poor and rich,it is govt responsibility.Govt and religious centres must create a welfarist society not the rich.

The rich only got opportunity or better ideas to make money than the rest of the populace. They owe nobody any duty but are encouraged to do charity.

Don't be silly you know most of the rich in Nigeria got it from oil.

Rich people have the opportunity to take risks because the effect of failure is minimal.

A poor man with great ideas won't spend his only money to fund it because he might never see that amount again.
