What he did was not bad. Before Snowden, there was 9/11 their spying and everything did not prevent anything. Today they can still spy on anyone... Including outside the US. OBAMA spied of German chancellor. This is after Snowden.

The government was overreaching and the people need to know what they are doing in secret.

On this case, the Supreme Court... They are not hiding anything. So it's stupid of him to think this is about a whistle blower for a verdict that will still be made public.

Let's think about it this way, in the last election, did you know that Trump was up in every single demographic when compared to his previous performance? That's right, Trump gained a larger percentage of voters among black people, Hispanics, Asians,etc. When it comes to white people: his performance among white men was about the same. However white women did not show up for election day and that was enough t for him to lose the election.

The tricky and sad part is that these Southern States will also make it illegal to travel out of State to do an abortion. These States are controlled by self righteous Evangelicals who know how to use talking points like abortion to keep their base.

What's the point of leaking what will be made public? This undermines the court as it is designed to intimidate the judges into submission. They want to protest, and possibly threaten the judges into changing their minds. That's the only reason to Leak a verdict that will be made public.

I don’t think anyone who works with the SC, especially a highly placed person like the clerk involved in the leak believes a leak would intimidate the Justices to change their positions. The SC clearly confirmed the leak as true which means they are going to hold their positions irrespective.

The leak I believe was made by someone who is sympathetic to abortion rights and wants it to go to the public court, not necessarily because it would cause the Justices to change their mind but prepare the public.

The integrity of the SC is already at stake, consequently, changing their positions because of a leak would make things worse. I expect a lot of shakeups within the administration of the SC after this leak.

It's not like they wouldn't find those who leaked this. Those working the same department would be suspicious of each other and destroy the department!

While I don't like the fact that the SC has been barricaded, I think protests were inevitable irrespective of the timing, don't you think so? A landmark judgement like this was going to lead to protests from many prochoice groups at the SC even if there was no leak.

Inevitable after the verdict or close to it with no one knowing the outcome then... Not now that people know. Things might turn worse. People will be protesting for them to change their minds now.

Snowden's leak is not the same with this. He leaked what was happening behind closed doors, which was kept from the public... A spying and violation of peoples right to privacy the government was doing. This is nothing like that.

I am sure the clerk and Snowden agreed to terms where they cannot leak issues discussed that they might be privy to.
How does the Judge whose clerk leaked this type of ruling feel about it.
Will the Judge be seen as having colluded with the clerk to leak or the clerk is a rogue actor

The bold is key, Regardless of where you fall in any debate, the ethical trust is crucial in the SCOTUS. There have been rulings that favoured one judge and didnt favor the other over time. Yet they kept it ethical

Next time when there is a ruling on gun control and an anti gun Judge opinion is leaked to the Gun people. Then what are we preparing ourselves for? Are we basically putting a target on the Judges in the SC?

I absolutely agree with you and I addressed this in my previous post. Justice John Roberts has a big task of reuniting the SC Justices because this will lead to a mistrust amongst the Justices. I expect a serious investigation in the coming days and some shakeups.

Justices of the SC do not change their positions that easily when it comes to judgements, it is what makes the SC the highest court of the land. Did you not think a landmark judgement was not going to be met with protests? Did you think it was just going to slide quietly? Even the SC expect protests, there have been protest for lesser judgements, worth more a landmark one like this. The protests are inevitable in my opinion because one group is going to be unhappy. Protests are not illegal, the last time I checked the right to protest is protected by the Constitution.

If you have moral issues with your job then don't sign up for it or leave. There are some positions you will see things and hear things. It's irresponsible to go leaking out things you are privy to as a result of your position

If we start with everyone, should doctors be leaking their patients health results to the public, lawyers be leaking what their clients told them or NASA scientists and defence contractors be leaking official documents?
