Reno is campaigning for Atiku Abubakar to be the presidential candidate of the PDP and for Peter Obi to be the vice presidential candidate. That's the reason for all the rigmarole that he has been doing. He wants to show that no southerner in PDP can defeat APC and therefore they must select Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidate. That's why he said that Atiku is the best of all the candidates while Peter Obi is the best Southern candidate.

He has realised that a lot of South-Easterners want Peter Obi to be the presidential candidate of the PDP and a large number of his followers are South-Easterners and that's why he is campaigning for Atiku in a roundabout way.

Basically, what he is doing is to hype Tinubu in order to show that Peter Obi cannot defeat him and that the only person that can defeat him is Atiku, so everybody should rally round Atiku.
