Human came from one source. Ewe are from ketu , we have long history together culturally and traditionally.

Ptolomeus: Dear friends.
I am South American, and student of history and African traditions, I would like to hear from you about these two "kings" Africans in America. I refer to the "Obá" Mosi Guineur ( "owner of the ASE and elect of Oloorùn" ) Barule Oba's kingdom, and Agelo Djisovi Sagbaju Agbovi I, King Fon in America.
My question is this.
According to your opinion:
1. These people are eligible (qualifying) to represent these people as kings?
2. They have the proper lineage?
3. Who / whom they proclaimed King / Oba?
4. You as Africans agree with these appointments?
I beg you to open your views on this interesting subject.

Warm regards to all!

Bro you can't learn anything pertain history on this site ,the site is filled with Tribal mongers across the Niger that spread hate .

If there's any Ghanaian tribe I would personally associate with the Yoruba's, it would be the Ga's.

Once again there is no relation between any of those ethnic groups and the Yoruba. The language's don't match, the culture does not match, and they are more related to ethnic groups in Ghana(genetically). To put it bluntly, they are a distinct ethnic group and have nothing to do with the Yoruba. They don't dress like the Yoruba, speak a language close to the Yoruba, have similar festivals to the Yoruba etc etc. It is a distinct ethnic group.

West Africa 1625

This is western Africa as Europeans saw it in 1625. Are Malians Yoruba? Are Akans Yoruba?? grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin The answer is NO!!!!

These ethnic groups you are calling Yoruba(Ewe's and others) have always existed between Akan land and Yoruba land. They are not Yoruba but, distinct ethnic groups which were not fully studied and sometimes bunched together with Akans or Yoruba's... Just like in the North between Mali and Akan there are ethnic groups that are called Akan origin and ethnic groups called Malian origin. In many cases it is not clear because those ethnic groups are mixed... I actually had to look into this to understand it and I read proper history NOT fake ones put together by drunk men. cheesy

The Ewe's are not Yoruba they are a distinct ethnic group more related to groups like the Fon etc etc.

Akan people are from Mali. Ewe are from Ketu in Benin republic we are sprang from one source ,we have tradition and culture linking us together IFA/AFA.
History Yoruba is very old and not easy to unravel, there have been series of immigration and emigration in the area for so long all tribe around Yoruba region have history linking them to Yoruba.
TO US OMO ODUA ILE-IFE IS THE CRADLE OF ALL LIFE. WE CELEBRATE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD EVERY YEAR ITAPA FESTIVAL.

ILE – IFE , the cradle of Yoruba, the city of the survivors, spiritual seat of the Yoruba, where the dawn of the day was first experienced, the source, the head of the whole universe; the land of the most ancient days, the home of divinities and to the people of Ife “ILURUN” i.e. Gateway to heaven.

Nonsense. grin grin grin grin

Are you a Fon?? Your verson history is false false false

The Akan did not migrate from Mali but, may have migrated from the Sahel region Prior to the islamization of the Sahel. It would seem the culture they practice is very similar to those ancient pre-Islamization West African cultures which is why they can't possibly be from Mali which was an Islamized state.

Why should I read your post?aren't you funny?who really made you an authority on the subject and where did I quote that the Ga's are related to the yorubas?
@Topic, from personal point of view and observation based on way of life, language etc, I would associate the Ga's to yoruba's as opposed to the Ewes. James town the home of the Ga's is pretty much same as lagos island.

Do they speak the same language. grin grin grin Yoruba inferority complex filled people embarassed by their real history which is being under Fulani rule so trying to claim distinct ethnic groups as Yoruba grin grin grin

NO historian worth their salt would say that this is true. Outside of European intervention in what is today Nigeria Yoruba's would today be calling themselves Hausa-Fulani...

Learn history very carefully. I need real evidence. I have noticed from recent research that those Ethnic groups between Yoruba and Akan lands use Akan names!! I wonder why the Akan don't claim them??

They are more Akan than Yoruba or have been more influenced by the Akan. I can give give you the sources I am looking at right now. Yoruba's should learn to accept their real history and not claim a fake origin for distinct ethnic groups who don't show any characteristics of the Yoruba. The Ethnic group most related to the Yoruba live in Nigeria today and they are the Igbo and maybe the Hausa-Fulani who colonized part of Yoruba land!! Are you ashamed to be related to them??

I am closely following the debate.
I have learned that through the centuries, the structure of the Yoruba kingdoms have had many changes. The Yoruba have dominated vast territories, and were also dominated. This makes it very difficult to establish links between different peoples origin.

As stated Obalufón can be established Ile Ife as the cradle of the Yoruba people, also the figure of Oduduwa as the patriarch of that people. From then on, it is difficult to develop.

There is another aspect that has not been mentioned here. Much closer in history, but no less important. This is the Treaty of Berlin (1878), in which some European countries for them divided politically Africa. As a result, the same ethnic group become part of different countries, which (for example) groups Yoruba are part of a country with groups Hausa ... That makes it even more difficult to find the roots.
A very good job of colonizing ... unfortunately.

I maintain that the Ewe are a distinct ethnic group more culturally related to the Akan than Yoruba today.

I dare anyone to prove me wrong. Is their Origin Yoruba? There is no evidence to prove that they are and to me, it seems they are a distinct ethnic group most related to the Fon and others between Akan lands and the western people in modern Nigeria wink wink.

Boko, I just give the hard facts! I know the region very well. These are DISTINCT ethnic groups. Any relation is tenuous at best! I talk about my fellow Africans because, it is time to have a good sense of humor and relax a bit!! After all, we are all West Africans.

amor4ce: What does 'Ewe" mean?
Well ... I do not speak Yoruba ... With help from a brother piido Yoruba.
My only reference is the greeting to Orissa Ossayin "Ewe" would mean something like "oh the leaves." As far as the word "ewe" would be related to the leaves, and by extension, with its color (green)
But of course, the'' last word is with those who understand the Yoruba.
My respects.

The relationship between Nigerians and Ghana is not hateful at all just sillyness attributed to the reputations of "Nigerians".

Its the same as Nigerians and other countries. People DONT LIKE NIGERIANS. even in Benin public Nigerians are not well liked. the only groups from Nigeria that are merely "tolerated" are Yoruba Hausa fulani and Bariba - thats because they are also indigenous to benin.

an excerpt from an article NIGERIANS SEE HELL IN BENIN REPUBLIC

Innocent Iwu killed at Ekpe town
Innocent Iwu's death is another classic case of how Nigerians are slaughtered periodically by Benenise at the slightest provocation. He was brutally murdered in broad daylight at a car park where cars are sold for his effonttery in asking for his balance after he paid for a GSM credit card. 'A soldier shot him because of a misunderstanding over 'change'. He bought 500 cfa. He gave the woman who sold it to him 1,000 cfa. As the woman had no balance of 500 cfa to give him, he asked the woman to return the money to him with a promise to look for 'change' and return to give her the 500 cfa.

'As an argument ensued over Iwu's request, the woman raised alarm, shouting 'ole-ole, omo Nigeria ole-ole, omo ibo ole-ole. At this point, a soldier simply called Sule came to intervene. But in the process of interviewing Iwu, matters got awry. Before Iwu realized the danger he was facing, the soldier had hit him with the butt of his gun. Just as Iwu fell down, the soldier corked his gun and fired a shot at him. Iwu was quick to dock and the bullet hit a rock, ricocheted and hit a Benenise.

The soldier was not done. In a 'Commando' style, the soldier released a second shot which Iwu was not lucky to escape. He fell down bleeding. Even as he was bleeding along side the Beninese hit by the first bullet, the soldier prevented sympathizers from coming to their aid. He ensured that Iwu bled to death rather than get him to hospital for treatment. While the Beninese died the same day, Iwu died the second day. As at the time of filing this report, the authorities have not considered it necessary to hold talks with the Nigerian community and the Nigerian embassy on innocent Iwu's death.
