The Central Bank of Nigeria has not made public its annual reports since 2018, a move analysts say is aimed at concealing mismanagement at the top bank.Source: https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/528931-amid-massive-funding-of-govts-deficits-cbn-refuses-to-publish-annual-reports.html Front page: Lalasticlala Mynd44 |

PSA: the government has a long history of not publishing reports that showcase it failures. The government stopped publishing crime statistics in 2017 when it became painfully obvious there's a crime wave. The unemployment stats stopped being published in 2018 before the 2019 election. Then after it was published randomly instead of quarterly. Both these reports would show people these government policies make life worse. I've always argued the there needs to be a constitutional amendment to make it possible for NASS to impeach these people unilaterally. Currently the president needs to ask before they can act which is foolish. Fact is these appointees are stooges of the president and nothing more. Just tailor the proposed amendment after the US Article 2 section 4 and the appointees will be more accountable to the NASS.

A CBN governor brazen and shameless enough to join a political party in preparation for a run at the Presidency can hardly be bothered to care about such petty matters of accountability as publishing annual reports! In any decent country Emefiele would have been chased into exile for the economic damage he has wrought over the last 7 years, but luckily for him, Nigeria is a joke of a "nation" where rank incompetents not only get elevated to become the heads of vital institutions like the central bank, they are reawarded for displaying their rank incompetence by being reappointed by other rank incompetents who have no real interest in governing themselves, merely in the cushy benefits that come with being President. Buhari and Emefiele are a marriage made in hell. |

Parachoko:I blame the media for not doing good job informing people of the issues going on around them. Even when there's a huge story in front of their faces the media is oblivious to it. A great example is El Rufi admitting to a 20.55% raise in murders in Kaduna last year. You probably don't know that occurred because they made the story about him requesting more military presence. I don't blame them but the one who appointed the head. I just hope we'll get it right someday. |

The bank did not respond to an FOI filed by PREMIUM TIMES requesting details of the annual reports. Its spokesperson, Osita Nwasinobi, did not respond to calls seeking comment.Lol only a fool wishes to incriminate themselves. Silence is golden especially when you know you're protected at the top. Theses state agencies can ignore foi request and pay any fine with your tax dollars since it doesn't come their budget or their pockets. |

omohayek:The biggest enabler off executive overreach are the National Assembly clowns. They're clearly uninterested in anything that requires them to actually call these appointees or president to order. Lol even when they do attempt to do their jobs the appointees ignore their summons. They know they won't be sacked, have budgets cut or department eliminated.

tit:I doubt it since he's not the only one not doing his job. Lol Buhari probably not aware and doesn't care. Its just another document he's not going to read. What you think he'd have on him anyway? |

Lol the NASS are funny folk. The are always worried about how to treat the symptoms instead of curing the disease. They want to ban him from joining politics but they couldn't care less if he does his job.
