So I finally got the 4.5kva elepak generator. But the problem here is, it can't conveniently power the 1.5hp a.c at home. I have to switch off all the lights, virtually everything. And wen it's powered and i put on few lights the gen's circuit breaker goes off within 20 mins. And the gen would hv been unnecessarily hot including the tank.

But without the a.c being ON, the gen powers everything including the big deep freezer. It's a big house with 2 living rooms and 5bedrooms. The gen powers it all conveniently without any wahala.

So I talked to à generator engineer and he said its because the LG is an old model with a high compressor, so it requires much energy from the Gen, that if it was a new model, it will power it without hassle, cos the new model, it's compressor requires less voltage.

Pls how true is this?

While your inverter AC will consume let's say 1100W steady throughout its operation, the non-inverter AC compressor will cycle off and on. Whenever it needs to come on, it will need up to 1500 starting watts before it steadies at 1100W. This is the energy saving in the long run.

First of all, gen manufacturers are slick to rate their products in kVA. The Elepaq 4.5kVA is its maximum capacity. Its normal running capacity is 4.0kVA. Using 0.8 as a conversion factor to watts gives you 3200W.

The old models are not energy efficient and tend to draw high amounts of wattage during startup. Non-inverter ACs have compressors which cycle off and on. Without load, it would work well and the compressor will cycle off once the room is cool. The problem is with the startup. It can take up to 2600W just to start the compressor and cool the room before it cycles off. What you have left will be insufficient to power the remaining appliances. Running the generator close to its maximum capacity will also put a strain on the engine.

I use non-inverter ACs (Hisense and Bruhm). 1HP is enough for a self-con bedroom. Budget extra for an inverter model. You can search this thread for reviews of inverter series.

You see that bruhm, no even go there. Very annoying AC. Had one that cool effectively again in less than 1 year of purchase. LG inverter AC is okay. However, it starts dripping water in side the room in less than 2 years of purchase.

It would work perfectly, my TEC 3.75KVA generator carries two 1.5HP Hisense Inverter AC effortlessly. You are super covered with one AC.

Guys I need some advice, I got the panasonic air conditioner with internal AVS, it only works well with GEN, with nepa most times it shows orange, can't use, I got a 5kva stabilizer, it works with nepa but it goes orange and stops cooling every few minutes. What can I do how can I solve this? Can this be solved?

As long as there's an oil spill on the AC pipe, then that's an obvious leak. It may not be much but there's an escape of freon from there which must be addressed. Yes, water will still drip under such condition because the leak isn't severe to trigger compressor tripping on & off or the pipe freezing.

Let that be addressed and top up freon. Note again that the chilling effect of AC can also be subject to the weather conditions. If the weather is extremely hot, chilling won't be really felt like when it's not that way.

But follow up and keep updating the progress.

I refilled my ac with r22. It's not cooling as it used to. Could it be fake gas? While we were refilling it I was tasting the cooking but it was not as it used to. I keep telling the guy to put more until will empty the 1kg gas cylinder and the recommendation is 0.46kg, it's not cooling optimally as it used to. I'm anggered right now as I just wasted over 10k for this.

I am just guessing the gas might be fake. What should I do? Offload the gas?

Hello guys- I need your advice/help please. So I got a 2hp Hisense AC in February and everything was working fine until like a month and a half ago, when I noticed the outside unit’s can stops randomly- say for like 2 minutes, then it picks back up again.
Like, whenever I put on the AC, it works flawlessly for like an hour or two, then it starts its intermittent stops.

Note, whenever the outside unit’s fan stops, the cooling stops too, and when the fan kicks into action again, the AC began to cool. What could be the cause, please? And what can I do to remedy the situation?

I don’t even know- I have no idea- it will just work very well for a couple of hours then begins its intermittent start and stop- I think every fifteen to 20 minutes.

So, whenever the fan stops, cooling stops, and when the fan resumes, it starts to cool again- and all the time, the AC is always on. I complained to the technician who helped me with the installation- he came over and the AC worked non-stop throughout his stay- he ended up asking me to observe it for a while-
