He died Thursday morning after battling an unknown ailment.

The once vibrant actor who was a force to reckon with in the 1990s and early 2000s according to reports suffered from series of ailments and raising money for his treatment became difficult.

Richard was reportedly suffering from diabetes and other related ailments.

May his soul rest in peace.

It could be as simple as many Nigerians don't bother to do annual medical checkup, we rely on bitters and herbs and prayers. Most of the ones dying from these diseases would have survived or lived longer if they caught it early enough.

Nope, it's because

1.People don't take their drugs as and at when scheduled

2.People don't exercise regularly

3.People don't watch what they eat...more vegetables, less carbs.

I would even argue that more people are surviving diabetes, hypertension and prostate cancer. In the good old days, people died from the thing in high numbers because we did not have good enough drugs, and early detection was poor.

4.We are detecting such diseases better. 50 years ago, the idea of doing an ultrasound to look at one's prostate was impossible in most Nigerian hospitals...meaning that prostate cancer won't be discovered until too too late. Now, we have tests , ultrasound, CT scan, MRI and PET scans that can detect prostate issues before it becomes serious.

Better detection leads to paradoxically high cases of illnesses...because now we catch them early...and treat early.
