Blasphemy is when anyone insult or disrespect God, important person or object for particular religion or anything that is considered divine.

In Islam, The case is when when someone disrespect or abuse important figures in the religion or any Islamic law.

The worst is when someone says anything bad about God or prophet Muhammad, that is tantamount to a death penalty.

While others like abusing or disrespecting top disciplines or islamic laws has various punishment

According to experts, the blasphemy laws are different and not all leads to death.

Punishment for blasphemy in Islam

Divided between a Muslim north and Christian south, Nigeria has general nationwide laws against blasphemy which the Customary Courts can interpret.

Nigeria has specific Islamic laws against blasphemy which is contained in the Sharia law, the Sharia Courts can interpret it for the twelve northern Nigeria states .

Di Customary law against blasphemy is in Section 204 of Criminal Code of Nigerian law book.

That section forbids any act which publicly insults any religion and put a prison sentence of up to two years

as penalty. Yusuf Sani who understands Sharia law said that after Allah, next

Extremism exist in all sectors of life

I am a Muslim I observed my jumat not quite long, I didn't kill anyone, or terrorise anyine, so anyone who tries to involve me in what Sokoto teenagers did to their fellow student and sister is as guilty as the so called extremist persecuting innocent people

The fact that Quran wrote about a battle during the conquest of Saudi territory over a thousand years ago doesn't legitimise killing in 2022 especially when Quran explicitly forbid killing of fellow humans and equat the life of a man to that of generations

The Bible wrote about many war, and many murder committed by different prophets, and that doesn't mean all Jews should start killing people like their prophet


So in my very humble honest opinion, the sooner we stop hypocrisy and start fully enforcing our criminal code, penal code and Sharia laws as applicable to such jungle Justice the better for us all

Perhaps you qoute to us all the exact Quranic verses they followed, afterall Quran is available in English for all to see

The video I saw was of angry youth who said they felt angry thier God was insulted, at no point did I hear them reference a Quranic verses giving them authority to commit murder
