The presidency has stepped into the ongoing crisis in the Kano chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) between Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Daily Trust reliably gathered.

A source familiar to the development said the presidency dispatched a jet Friday night from Abuja to Kano to convey Ganduje and Shekarau for an emergency meeting towards resolving the crisis.

The meeting is said to be a major part of the plan to forestall the planned defection of Shekarau to the new but fast growing New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The NNPP is led by another former governor of Kano and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Many bigwigs of the APC and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been joining the party and Shekarau was expected to formally announce his defection to the party on Saturday.

However, late Friday evening, Governor Ganduje visited the former governor at his Mudunbawa Kano residence, in what sources said was last minutes attempt to stop the planned decamping.

Sources said it was after the closed door meeting that they started making arrangements to jet off to Abuja.

Those of you relying on Ganduje, can you see for yoursrlf? I told you I said Ganduje is finished and has a battared image, so many statutory delegates either gone or they will work against him, the other big party boys there are with Gaya and Shekarau. Even, Tinubu's campaign DG Jubrin ran to NNPP, because he has seen the hopeless future with him, do you think if he is sure of Tinubu's prospect he will not stay?a big portfolio ministry is better in the future with Tinubu, than any house of rep he is vying for now.

Regardless of who wins the APC presidential ticket, the federal government knows that they need Kano.

APC knows Kano is their life for election reason why they want to resolve the crisis. Once Shekarau decamp with his group, APC is gone in Kano.

This is the type of thing this presidency takes seriously
