Israel-based goalkeeper, Adebayo Adeleye has been handed a late call-up in the Super Eagles by the new coach, Josep Peseiro after Maduka Okoye pulled out due to a shoulder injury.
Good..
Bankole should replace Uzoho then...

One funny thing about our goalkeeping department is that since Enyeama left, we’ve had pretender upon pretender manning our goalpost. grin grin

They’d perform extremely well on their debuts and flatter us, we go be like “ Omo na goalkeeper be this, he should be starting” blablabla, but for subsequent matches yansh go begin to open, unto the the next one.

We never get goalkeeper yet, the last goalkeeper we had was Enyeama.

The roles that football players are expected to carry out on the pitch have transformed greatly since modern ideas and managers streamed into the round leather game.

Gradually, the traditional one styled players are being phased out of the game. Nigerian-born Bright Osayi-Samuel is a good example of a modern player.

The versatile fullback moved to Turkish side Fenerbahce from Queens Park Rangers in January 2021 and made 43 appearances during the recently concluded season scoring 2 goals and providing 5 assists.

There has been reported interest in the Nigerian right-back from West Ham who view him as a perfect player to raise the general quality and squad depth of the team.

It is not known if the transfer would materialize but this article will be looking at two values Osayi-Samuel would add to West Ham if the move eventually gets completed.

Osayi-Samuel is a highly versatile player who can carry out multiple roles on the pitch without a significant drop in quality.

The Nigerian who is primarily a winger can also play as a flat right-back in a back four.

He is also quite capable of playing as a wing-back if David Moyes decides to go for a three centre-back formation.

In short, Osayi-Samuel offers more tactical set-up options which will undoubtedly make West Ham more unpredictable.

Secondly, while Osayi-Samuel is not primarily a right-back, he offers more attacking drive than many other full-time right-backs including West Ham's very own Vladimir Coufal.

The Czech Republic international's contract expires in 2023, and while the club has the option of extending it by a further two years, Osayi-Samuel has the potential to be an upgrade in the position.

The Nigerian is outstanding going forward and is a very effective outlet on the flanks which the club can use to build attacks or relieve pressure.

His athleticism is also a bonus in such a frantic paced environment as the English Premier League.

Yet we forget when Enyeama started he was not that great..made mistakes too..but grew into the role over the years.

carle ikeme put in a good shift only for cancer to cut his career short at the national team and not that okoye isn't good enough the problem is that his confidence level dropped and so far he isn't showing being strong enough to handle being our number one, he obviously enjoyed the praises after the Brasil game but showing not mentally tough to handle criticism which obviously comes with the responsibility of being the number one wink even ezenwa did well during the small period of being the number one smiley which shows we could actually believe in our local base keeper when the going gets tough and right now we are in that situation and we have them in the team hopefully they put in a good shift and cement their place wink

IMO Balogun is not better than Omeruo.
Balogun has been our best CB for years now, even bombing forward to create chances from the back.

The only bad game I can remember Balogun having was that Madagascar game. He has always been excellent with the NT.

Omeruo is far far behind. Balogun is better than Ekong when both are paired, everyone knows that. Is Omeruo better than Ekong? 50/50.

The bolded is absolutely not true... Nigerian fans will issue threats online, but how many of such threats have ever been carried out? You are trying to imply that Nigeria has the most fanatical set of football fans in the world..how??
Uzoho and Okoye simply can't deal with the presume they are facing at the moment and that's understandable..Not everybody has a tough mentality...
Akpeyi got a lot of sticks from fans after the 2019 AFCON, but he didn't quit... Ighalo got his own share of insults after the world cup,but came back to win the fans over with his performance at the AFCONQ and tournament proper... Players like Musa and Shehu have been getting the stick from fans since forever and they are still here..

I'm not condoning what the fans did to Uzoho and Maduka, but they should understand that it's work hazard..it's all part of the game... Their pulling out won't matter much cus they can easily be replaced...
Lmao, who carries out threatshuh

I'm talking about how we insult and demean our own players. Some people are still insulting Yak till today. Look at how much Ighalo took that made him leave the National team for a while.

We're not the most fanatical fans, but we're one of the most toxic and insultive fans. You'll hardly see somewhere in the world where people insult their own team players like Nigeria. South Africa comes second. We take losses too emotionally, spitting BS everywhere.

.

Nigerians are now so used to toxicity and being treated like crap that they now see evil behaviour as a normal way of life. You'll even find a lot of them encouraging it. Background/upbringing matters a lot. A large part of our humanity relies on the nature of our upbringing.
The environment in Nigeria is too harsh and uncaring, hence rearing wild people.

I don't think they're concerned about that. Is it not WCQ that Maduka missed?

It's not as if Nigeria pays any serious money to players or is poised to win any major trophy. They have their clubsides to play for week in week out. If playing for Nigeria (or Africa) was more important, you wouldn't hear about people missing AFCON just to keep places in their clubs.

It's more about love and honor. But in Nigeria, we create a wild atmosphere, blocking buses, storming stadiums to damage stuff, etc.

Tell me how would your desire to play for your country be if people consistently storm your pages to threaten and insult you at any loss?

The thing is it happens everywhere. It is bad TBH but they just have to deal with it. If you miss an empty net today, the fans will descend on you but score hattrick tomorrow and see how the same fans will hype you to heaven. So refusing to show up because fans were abusing them won't change anything.

Central African Republic in Lagos was what for Balogun?

Which years was Balogun better than Omeruo? 2018? Nope, Omeruo was our best defender at that world cup. 2019? Nope, Omeruo was our best defender at that AFCON. 2022? U know the answer.

The disrespect that Omeruo has received is disgusting. The only one on the team who truly knows what it takes to win for Nigeria and we look for every excuse to put him down. This is how we ended Efe Ambrose career because he played in Scotland and now we are D riding players in the same league.

Laslas player go, player come, Super Eagles remain

I defended Oloye when people were hurling mud at him after the Afcon

But forget that thing...look at Nigerians turning down SE to play for other countries even when they know they will never be appreciated as they ought to.

Football is a job. This job runs on many things and love is the least of them.

We make choices with our emotions first before we use logic to explain them.

So if they need 100% of the country to be telling them sweet words of encouragement, then they had better be on their way.

NFF can do better on protection from bodily harm or damage of structures but that part of insult, it is up to the players to build their own mental walls
