Hello guys, this thread has been tremendously helpful to me, and so in the spirit of giving back, I'm here to share my story.
I submitted for IW and was asked to come for a 221G interview. I read a lot on this thread and contacted so many people for help and advice whilst preparing for the interview.

A little background.
I got my visa in 2019 for vacation and later found out I was pregnant in 2020. I travelled in 2021 and gave birth. I spent almost 5 months. I had seen here how people who stayed 3 months or more were invited to explain why they stayed long, and in my case I also gave birth. So I knew that hmmmmm.

My transcript:

Me: Good morning (Smiling)
VO: Good morning (Smiling)

She asked for my passport and I handed it to her

VO: So tell me, what did you do on your last trip to the US?
Me: vacation and I also had a baby

She started typing

Me: (I continued talking like radio without wire while she was still typing) I told the CBP officer at my POE about my plan to give birth and he asked about my bills and my funds and I made sure to pay all my bills. I have all my receipts here.

I brought them out of my folder.

VO: I don't need to see those.

She kept typing

VO: Was childbirth the purpose for which you got your visa

Me: No

Her facial expression changed. She looked very stern.

VO: explain to me how you travelled to give birth when your visa was not for childbirth

Me: I got a tourist visa for vacation in 2019, got pregnant in 2020 and travelled to give birth in March 2021

She seemed to ponder over it a bit and then she kept typing.

VO: Why did you have to travel to the US to give birth?

Me: My pregnancy was high risk and I wanted to get better care than I was receiving here

VO: Explain to me why your pregnancy was high risk

Me: (I explained my medical history and mentioned the conditions).

She kept typing for a long time.

VO: Do you intend to go for medical this time around?

Me: No

VO: What do you intend to do on this trip?

Me: Just vacation. Visiting friends and other places of interest.

She typed for a while

VO: If you need to use medical on this visa, make sure you send us an email, because it may cause problems for you in future.

Me: What email address please?

VO: Lagosniv@state.gov
There has been an update on the B visas on birthing

Me: Yes I'm aware of the update and I will read more on it.

She typed for a while

VO: Your visa has been approved. You will be contacted to pick your passport in 3 to 5 days.

Me: Thank you

I can't remember much after this point, but I somehow found my way out.

I was really concerned because I had a baby on my last trip. I'm really grateful to God that it all worked out. I don't know what exactly worked in this case. I personally believe I got a favourable VO.

I want to say a very big thank you to everyone that offered answers and advice, everyone who responded when I reached out to them, and everyone who answered my numerous questions here.
Thanks to everyone for all your help. Dampops, Lady Chaplin, Mulberry, Onizeb, sappy1981, you all are so wonderful! Helping a stranger you've never met and investing your personal time and call credit. Y'all are MVPs!
Please forgive me if I omitted your name. So many people helped me from here.

Great - if you get paid in dollars state that - they should know if you have a good salary that keeps you comfortable in Nigeria it's not going to get to stay. Talk about your family and any property you own.

Good luck.

Hello everyone. Does being refused after an IW application automatically means you can book a follow up in-person interview. The email I got just asked to go pick up my passport without giving me any reason for refusal or any information to book a follow up in person interview. TIA

Your passport should be accompanied by a slip that will tell you what to do.
