Former presidents are typically addressed as president, doesn't mean they're still president.

Same way a former senator is still addressed as a senator in Nigeria.

Also, obviously Garba meant to type "he was warm, affable" and typo'd the he into we.

Imagine squabbling about such minor issues in these trying times.
