Expected

But now that June 12 is officially our democracy day is President Buhari handing over on June 12 or may 29

If it should be June 12 won't that breach the Constitution?
His tenure expires May 29 not June 12

Declaring a public holiday for democracy is not necessary.

At present, there are 13 national public holidays.

For the sake of the economy, the number of public holidays should be reduced. Some days may just be observed without being made public holidays.

New Year's Day (1)
Good Friday and Easter Monday (2)
Workers' Day (1)
Id el Fitr (2)
Democracy Day (1)

Id el Kabir (2)
Independence Day (1)
Id el Maulud (1)
Christmas Day and Boxing Day (2)

Total - 13

This year (2022) however, there would be less than 13 public holidays, because of the overlap of Workers' Day and Id el Fitr.
