Good evening Everyone,

I really appreciate this group as I have read alot of information and gained from it. Please I will like to know some information. I am applying for USA visiting Visa by myself but there are conditions attached to it.

1. I will like to know how much is needed to be ones personal account to show as proof even though it might not be requested?

2. I don't have enough ground to proof that I will return to Nigeria but due to some close person it was suggested that they can allow me use their business which is a school (Nur & Pry) to show as my evidence of coming back home. I will be going for vacation during the school holidays if I am lucky enough to get an appointment time early. Also I will be using the account of the school to show that I can sponsor myself. Is such possible and hope it won't back fire. I will be taking along the necessary documents.

3. In reference to filling the form, I have a Point of contact person in the US as the place I will be staying over. I will like to know if the person might be contacted and asked some information as regarding their status, bank accounts or any other information. The person said they might call to ask for bank statement in which if there is no sufficient funds there they might refuse the visa.
The person is not acting as a sponor as I will be one to fund my stay over there.

Kindly give advice on what to do. Thank you.

Note: the person is not disclosing status information but gave me the necessary information.
Also I have been refused a family Visa before at Abuja close to 7 years now.

I am kindly open to any assistance.

For easy link up, search for “@Lagosusvisaiw” on your telegram. It will suggest the link clink and join. I joined two weeks ago and got a date for last week Thursday. I have left the group because that’s the rules - when you get a date, you would leave. Best of luck.

1. I will like to know how much is needed to be ones personal account to show as proof even though it might not be requested?

Ans: it's very rare for the VOs to ask for bank account statements. Though Ur to state how much u earn monthly or otherwise in the application. They will always tell u it's not the bank statement they want to give the visa. So don't pretty much worry urself about that as they would not ask.

2. I don't have enough ground to proof that I will return to Nigeria but due to some close person it was suggested that they can allow me use their business which is a school (Nur & Pry) to show as my evidence of coming back home. Is such possible and hope it won't back fire. I will be taking along the necessary documents.

Ans: Well it depends on how this is packaged and on what pretence. Are u going as part owner of the school or a relation of the owners or as a staff member? And is it the school sponsoring Ur trip? The school sponsoring Ur trip will be a redflag as they would expect u as a grown-up adult to have savings of Ur own.

3. In reference to filling the form, I have a Point of contact person in the US as the place I will be staying over. I will like to know if the person might be contacted and asked some information as regarding their status, bank accounts or any other information. Ans: They won't contact Ur host for whatsoever. It's even best u don't know anyone there

Kindly give advice on what to do. Thank you.

Note: the person is not disclosing status information but gave me the necessary information.
Also I have been refused a family Visa before at Abuja close to 7 years now.

Ans: Pls what do u mean family visa? U went there with wife and kids and u were refused or u wanted to join a family member over there and u were refused? Whatever the reasons for that refusal, u have to revise and address the reason(s) in this new visa application

I am kindly open to any assistance.

Thank you for your reply @DrStrangelove.

Your points are well noted. Concerning your third point, since you said it's best I don't know anyone there. I made my research which it was said that when I am using an hotel the fees have to paid which will indicate my seriousness to stay over there for the proposed weeks. Is there any other means to use apart from the hotel reservation?

Meanwhile what I meant by the family Visa consists of I, my parents and siblings. I don't really know the exact reasons the visa was refused as I was still young back then.

The Visa Officer interviews you with the assumption that you want to go to the US under the guise of a vacation, but you intend to immigrate. Nigeria is a high risk immigrant country.

You have to convince the VO at your interview you are seeking a visit visa for the purpose of a vacation and will return to Nigeria after.

You do this with A. The information you fill in your DS160 application. B. The questions you are asked at your interview, which are drawn from your DS160 form.

The likelihood of the VO asking for account statement is very low. The VO will also not ask for proof or evidence of owning a school, instead the information you provide in your DS160 about a) work experience and b) annual income will tell the VO if you actually own a school or earn so much from owning a school.

A school sponsoring your vacation is suspect. If you are asked at the interview what did you do to merit the school sponsoring your vacation as a teacher, owner or part owner, what will your answer be?

To convince a VO you aren’t a migrant risk is what leads to an approval. Paying hotel fees is not a big deal. People do and dash the hotel the money or get refund when they reach the US.

Based on the information in your DS160, you will need to confidently answer any question that you may be asked. They won’t ask you anything outside the DS160 form.

Your confidence level at the interview is also very important. Answering confidently and calmly wings your interview. As Pst Chris said, a poor man speaks with entreaties, but a rich man can be brash in speech.

I am going on as the owner of the school and I believe I should be able to confidently answer the questions based on the DS160 form as you said. What is not clear enough to me is in the aspect of location to say as a place I will be staying over for some weeks. As said by an advicer it's better for one not to disclose knowing someone over there or using the person as point of contact to be staying over with.

Since the norms is using an hotel which will have to be paid for, what other means can I use as Point of Contact or a place in staying over for few weeks.

Thank you.

Hello everyone, I kindly need your help in resolving the following:
I am unable to retrieve my DS-160 confirmation form which I successfully completed on May 2021. I have already used this DS-160 ID number to successfully book a visa appointment date however I would need to print out the DS-160 form which when I tried to retrieve it via the website, I got an error message that my records do no longer exist. Thus I do ask how do I resolve my DS-160 issue before my Visa interview which is next week?

It's always good that way if u don't know have a travel history beforehand to state that u don't have any contact over there. They potentially think that u might be immigrating and that that contact is Ur anchor. Choosing to stay in an hotel is always better. If u get the visa, u can always stay at the hotel for some days and check out to go to Ur destination thereafter

There are also other things to consider along with this for into obtain Ur visa like home ties and reasons for return. It's left for the VO to decide based on probability.
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by DrStrangelove: 2:57pm On Jun 13, 2022
Pls go ahead to use the hotel and its address together with the their contact number in the US Contact section of Ur application.

Book the reservation. At times based on the hotel occupancy and busy schedule, they might require to make a one night payment to fully reserve the hotel if the hotel has a lot of guests on Ur required stay-in period.

After staying some days, u can check out to Ur intended destination to stay with Ur contact.

Knowing someone or otherwise is neither here nor there. You won’t be penalized for it. You can’t be responsible for someone you know being abroad.

The plus side is, having someone in country can be viewed as an avenue to free up hotel bills to increase your vacation spending funds. You also get someone to show you the ropes around town and visit more spots and locations. You create more memories and experience. You get to know the stores to shop with great deals and discounts.

Having a contact abroad or knowing someone becomes a problem when it’s an address or name supplied to you by an agent. That person or contact usually has appeared severally in different people’s application.

The VOs know that Nigerians book hotels for 2 weeks, get to the US and cancel the booking after first night and get refund.

2 or 3 weeks hotel costs, even in a budget hotel of $40/night is between $500 to $800 alone. I won’t stay in a $40/night hotel. It will cost more than that.

$800 in Primark, Burlington or Target is a lot of stuffs to bring back home for friends and families.

Instead of focusing on hotels, find vacation activities or spots you will be visiting. Things you will be doing in the county or place you are visiting. Don’t give an address that’s 6 hours both ways from your planned itinerary to these vacation spots.

Your responses in DS160 to annual income and amount planned to spend are critical.

Dear fkj950ax,

Thanks for the responses UV given as it asserts some of my earlier advice given. There are few things I will like to add if u don't mind. The issue is peculiar to the original poster but could also help others who are looking for guidance on the forum.

Knowing someone or otherwise is neither here nor there. You won’t be penalized for it. You can’t be responsible for someone you know being abroad.

My addition here is to try to go the route that doesn't add suspicion to Ur story. Plausible deniability is the key word. Writing the name and address and other details of someone gives the VO an extra layer of suspicion or something else to chew on in my view. Let me buttress this point further. This view was shaped by no other person than the American Ambassador himself who was making media rounds sometimes in mid-2014. I was jeje driving on third mainland bridge when I turned on the radio on CoolFM (I think) when the Ambassador (James Entswitle) was on air answering questions. This was on a weekday. He mentioned specifically that if Ur going visiting (as opposed to other visa types like school or work) and u mention u know someone, it brings up a redflag or suspicion. He repeated this notion in the Punch newspaper the following Saturday which I read as well (pls u can Google this for proof) I won't ever want to fault the Ambassador but there's credence to what he said. Hence I decided to make my application the following month (the first time attempt). I used an hotel as contact in the US with their details. We got the visa but that's not even where the story ends. We were pulled aside into secondary at the port of entry and they asked us various questions to where we were and who we were going to see. We reteirated we were going for holiday and we are connecting a flight to go to the hotel we booked in another state. Now at this point, they called to the hotel to confirm our reservation (we had paid for the first night to reserve the room) and the hotel was able to confirm us. Imagine, if u had a contact (u might not really know what they are into even if it's family or friends as they appear pious to us all the time) and some red flags pop up on their system about that person? Let me give u another example, this happened to an egbon of mine. A contact in the US who is his friend called him up to ask for favour which is to help bring his girlfriend (or someone like that) to the US. He knows the egbon just came from a trip in Europe and so he can pair up with his girlfriend to do husband and wife and that they have a chance at getting the visa. I guess there was some financial reward for the Egbon as well in the mix. So, egbon was willing and they made preps and went to the embassy with the girl where they got their visas. The friend was elated and sent the ticket money and all. Day came, egbon and the girl boarded and arrived in the US as planned. They went thru CBP and came out of the airport to meet the friend. This is where the story gets interesting. There was something suspicious about the contact and address they left in their application which tipped ICE. So ICE decided to make a controlled bust. The friend teleguided them to an hotel room with a taxi while he followed them in a car discretely from the airport. All the while ICE was on their tail. They busted the hotel room and arrested all of them. The rest is to be imagined. They were deported in short.

So my advice is that u should know who u put as Ur US contact very well. But if in doubt, just put an hotel to avoid stories that touch. OP is free to choose what he wants but again he has to check their prior application to know what's in it and all.

The plus side is, having someone in country can be viewed as an avenue to free up hotel bills to increase your vacation spending funds. You also get someone to show you the ropes around town and visit more spots and locations. You create more memories and experience. You get to know the stores to shop with great deals and discounts.

These are all post visa issuance details. The VO doesn't care about how u go about all these. He's concerned about Ur pre-visa application situation and the visa interview proper. He won't be calculating how u can reduce Ur hotel bills or where Ur going to shop whether it's max bargains at Ross or backstage at Macy's. He wants to know Ur not an immigration risk. Remember he didn't ask for Ur bank statement. He will expect u have put all the financials in view within Ur visa application.

Having a contact abroad or knowing someone becomes a problem when it’s an address or name supplied to you by an agent. That person or contact usually has appeared severally in different people’s application.

This is one of the fallouts of it but it could be Ur friend (as explained in the example above) or even family. If Ur not sure about the person, just book Ur hotel jeje. U can go and move to Ur desired contact's place after u check in.

The American govt wants u to spend but it's ur duty to be wise and smart about it. Who won't like extra bucks in their pocket. This is well said

Instead of focusing on hotels, find vacation activities or spots you will be visiting. Things you will be doing in the county or place you are visiting. Don’t give an address that’s 6 hours both ways from your planned itinerary to these vacation spots.

This is alright if Ur asked during the interview as there isn't space or any segment where Ur required to state this except Ur filling the UK visa application form where u are asked of what u will be doing in the UK. Use an address as advised by my colleague and be mindful of the trip duration.

Your responses in DS160 to annual income and amount planned to spend are critical.

Well stated.

My question now is should I include them in my ds 160 as people joining me on the trip. Or how best should I go about it thanks.
