Here is my take on those who want to change their course.

This canada journey is a 50:50, you might be lucky to get along wth it but don't jist play on luck, play on facts and documents. Canada VOs love documents (genuine ones). Submit your proper details and make sure all docs that should carry date carry appropriate dates. And don't forget to mention them and how useful they are in your SOP/LOE.

Career Progression
This is like drugs for the VOs, they have issues with people changing fields of study or going for a lesser degree without proper and detailed information please try as much as possible to explain deeper.

Give details of the usefulness of the degree you are going for and at the same time explain its practicability.

Proof of Funds
This might sound off course but it still affects the course you are changing. If your previous course is expensive and you changed to a less expensive course, please have a genuine reason beyond thevreason of funds, you can talk about your passion for the course, don't let the VO feel you are hiding something.

Lastly, don't hide any document. Submit all relevant documents. Some docs may seem irrelevant but look thoroughly first before you conclude.

Happy Sunday

thanks a lot
Jenny255:

1) Yes it is very possible, you just have to give valid and convincing reasons in your SOP and you also have to prove strong home ties since you plan to leave with your immediate family.

2) Yes, this will definitely strengthen your application but read the school’s refund policy very well to be sure that you can get your money back if the visa doesn’t pull through.

3)Son - visitor’s visa and spouse - spousal open work permit (sowp)

4) Using cbn rate, it’s N1 = $334 CAD
Use sites like oanda.com to check the rate if you are not paying with form A

I suggest you await the input of others especially the gurus as this reflects my opinion alone.

Goodluck on your application!

Very Long Post Alert!!

I got admission December 2020 for Fall 2021 in University of New Brunswick but could not apply immediately because I was due to give birth in January 2021. I planned to submit my application in March but thanks to our immigration service, it took over 3 months before I could get passport for my baby despite paying through my nose for expedited processing. I ended up submitting our application on the 9th of June 2021 due to this delay. I was advised to put in mine while waiting for the passport but going without my children was not an option. We applied as a family, Myself, husband and 3 children. My husband applied for SOWP and visiting visa for my children because they're not up to school age.

Aside from the wahala of having to convince the VO and the fact that we are close to our mid 40s, two things stood against us. We had applied to visit Canada in 2019, but were denied, reason given was that we will not come back and false information in my husband's application, he didn't disclose his denial for US visa. We had applied for US visa a month earlier but the consular officer decided to give myself and my son but refused my husband. When we asked for the reason, she said she had none but was making a split decision. It was an oversight on my part because I filled our forms, I did mine first and just edited same form for my Husband and son. I forgot to change that part.
The second issue was my husband had a health condition and no information on how it was handled by IRCC. He didn't want to apply with us because he was scared he would ruin our chances but it was a no no for me. How will I manage with 3 small boys while studying.
We decided to use agents to help with our application but when I heard the price, I ran away quickly, not in this Buhari's economy.

I used same SoP I used to get my admission because I had no time to start afresh, I just edited it and in addition explained why I was doing a second masters (I have an MBA, same with my husband), how it would be beneficial in Nigeria and course not available in my country. I also addressed the issue of the denial in 2019 stating we never planned to break any visa rule and pointed them to our travel history to show that we have never overstayed in the countries we have visited. I also had to explain the false information in my husband's SoP stating it was an oversight. Reason given for going with my children is that they were too young to be left behind and I need my husband to take care of them. He runs his business and will take time off to support me in my career advancement. Reason given for him applying for work permit is that he wants work part time to gain experience that he would apply to his business back home and also support his family while in Canada.

Application was submitted 9th of June and the wait started, UNB gave us ultimatum of 13th of September to get our study permit or defer. We would not be allowed to even start online without it. I had no choice but to defer to September 2022. I wrote to IRCC but got generic responses. I got Nairobi email address from this forum and sent several mails. At some point, they stopped responding. I decided to fast and pray first week in February, a friend gave me Abuja email address, I sent a mail to them on the 7th and got a response on the 9th to go for medicals. I was so excited that finally, we have made progress. My husband and I did ours first. We had to disclose his condition and he was asked to go for further test, the tension of waiting was not easy especially on his part, mine was updated on the 19th while his was updated on the 22nd. We finally crossed that hurdle. Then our kids were asked to go for theirs a month later. Theirs was updated on the 23rd of March. I was asked to submit an updated application letter from the school and I also had to send a new passport because of the expiry date on the one I submitted. My hope was that within a month we should be done with this whole process. Then another wait started. I started writing to IRCC every other week from April but they didn't respond to any of my mails. I saw a format on nairaland 3 weeks ago to use to send email reminders but still no response. I decided to chill until the one year anniversary of our submission. At this point I was tensed because so many things were hanging, cost of ticket was rising, I needed to give enough notice to my boss to get my replacement before leaving. I entered another fasting and prayer last week, I had no other option. On the 10th of June, that's last Friday, someone posted the email address of different Visa Offices. I started sending mails to all of them. I also sent message to IRCC's twitter account and was about to send to London VO when I saw 7 donotreply emails. I first of all panicked and was afraid to open the mail. It was like a miracle, finally after one year of waiting, this came through. I also pray for those waiting patiently to get yours quickly in Jesus name, Amen!

[quote author=Activateoluwase post=109949849]Pay through CBN portal www.tradesystem.gov.ng even if you go to bank they will still tell you to make payment through CBN portal. Once you login, it will direct you on how to fill form A. I paid 4 days ago through the portal. Very easy and straightforward.

Please do you know how I can pay for college using form A because it's been stressing me out specially when I want to transfer the fund to flywire ,please help

Teemenzo:

Firstly don't think for others or the VO, if you actually know how VOs think, you would have been our first reference for the Study visa thing. Own it, these are your thoughts.

We have had many people who changed course after first refusals because they need to save cost and at the same time be able to show a comfortable balance as a Proof of Fund. The applicant asked a honest question, don't ruin it.

As for the applicant, its totally cool to change course or institution after refusal.. Just make sure you still maintain a good relationship between your previous education or work experience and the new course you are going for. Don't let anyone bambooze you.

Once you have been refused, case closed on that application but mnd you the new VO will still refer to your previous application. So you have to be able to balance it
While writing your LOE, make sure you explain explicitly why you changed the course. Give genuine reasons and explai it properly. After this, you are good

Congrats in advance.

While I appreciate your contribution here, I will not allow you to insult me and think your opinion is always the right one.

I believe if you read my post again and understand each sentence, you may understand better: perhaps I may be able to further make you open your eyes to see positive things therein.

1. Hypotheses are intelligent guesses. Perhaps you don't understand they don't have to be true always and they don't have to be false always.
2. I never said that is how VOs do reason because I used the word "may". Sure, if I can reason that way, VOs too may reason that way too. A visa applicant have to ensure (s)he makes his/her application tidy from all sides by reasoning that way
3 In the first and last paragraph of my response, I analysed and made reference that it's possible though but with a strong LOE which your unnecessary response also corroborates. You failed to see the part where I said the applicant needs to address the issue with strong LOE and that it's possible that an applicant can change institution and course. I will still make my point known, you must provide strong LOE if you change course and institution in your reapplication. I don't work and believe in 50/50 chances. Perhaps that's the difference between the two of us. I do take responsibility for my failure if faced with it and not blame it on 50/50 chances.

Also the bolded in your response is too hash, unpleasant and unnecessary. You may want to check and review it. You should know this thread is for everyone to share opinion and not for you and your idea alone. If you have something against me, you should address it, rather than conveying your bitterness through this means.

Also, I want to make you understand Canadian Visa Permit process is not totally on luck but your handiwork. If luck will play a part, it can't be more than 5% and the rest 95% is your handiwork. If you don't get something right, it means there is something you are not doing right and not 50/50 chances luck playing out, although there is mercy of the Lord.

It's so disheartening that 3 days after you got ppr you are yet to update the house with your timeline and documents you submitted.
You claim you're taking your time to put it together, After 3 days of receiving ppr.

I wonder if every other person behave like this, will this thread remain relevant and/or informative. It's a simple act of kindness to give back a little to something that gave you a whole lot.
You're still putting up question and expecting response. I greet you.

@Teemenzo While I appreciate your contribution here, I will not allow you to make people believe your opinion is always correct especially this one.

I have been waiting for your response since morning.
Your response to people shows how entitled you are. This platform was created for people to learn not to make people island of knowledge. I habe never and will never bring anybody's opinion down. My comments only supports my experience on this journey, it is not necessarily supoosed to be same for everybody.

You mentioning bitterness in your comments saddens my heart as you try to shoot yourself in the leg all the time
Bro/Sis, you can do better. Learn to rise above such words. Avoid been too lose with your emotions. Comtrol your anger.

This canada journey is real and people are learning. I have had conversations with many applicants and feel their unique esperiences. Its not the same for everyone.

Like you asked if i have any issues with you, wo(see), i don't care about any words thrown to me on this faceless platform. I am here to learn and also transfer my knowledge here. I met big men like Frankrobbn1, Makano, Anon and the likes here and we never had any word tussle here. We constructively learn from ourselve.

Many here have cautioned you based on how you jump into conclusions without digesting the info. Abeg, jist dey your dey and make i dey my day. But if i see your comments which i have a diiferent opinio to, trust me, i go quote you again.

Gba be.

How did you pay your school fees
Form A is the way to go but the process is a bit different now. Application is submitted online on the trade monitoring system. I am just about to pay for my second year.

I booked it myself, albeit a one way ticket, not a round trip. I guess that's why it's cheaper

Hello everyone. Please I need someone to help me with this ? I am a newbie here and I recently just graduated from a University here in Nigeria. I studied Mechanical Engineering and I am looking forward to start my application to any University in Canada for my MSc program. I meet with an Agent to help me with my application but the Agent told me I can’t get any admission into any University in Canada because I graduated with a 2.2(lower class). I was introduced to this thread by a friend who told me I can get help from here. Please Guru’s in the house I need help with my application. Can I get an admission to any University with 2.2 and can I get some fundings too please (Fundings because I am not from a rich family just an average family surviving). Please I want to try and get my application done correctly and I don’t want to fall in the hands of Agent again this time. I have fall in hands of Agent and I spent a lot with no outcome. Please Guru’s I need help. I’ll appreciate any response from you guys. Any school recommendations would be appreciated too please. Thank you

It's almost impossible to get admission into a master's degree program with a 2:2. You can try though, but I must advise you don't want to be spending $100+ application fee especially when you know your chances are slim.

You may qualify for PGD programs.
