Good day NL, quick question, I have been to SA before and have couple of their visas, I will like to know if I can apply for a temporary resident permit from Nigeria. Are they accepting applicant?

It depends on the type of permit. Work permits e.g. CSV, study visas , Business permits etc are all considered TRPs. Most of these can be acquired from outside the country

I applied February, I have not gotten any response yet...

I have frnds who are still awaiting response...

@Ruchardeleke, Is your study a sponsored one, because I think some guys in March got response last 2weeks (I am not sure if they are under scholarship), although a frnd of mine who is under scholarship and applied in March didn't get response...

The silence here with respect to this study visa issue is too much...

Myself and some of my colleagues that are under the same scholarship already started following up....

We sent someone to the high commission in Abuja to make some enquiry on our behalf, it was then we realized that they had some internal issues but according to them it has been resolved....

If we can come together especially those for study visa, we could make some of our request known...

Well I donot know the nature of the internal issues however the embassy said it has been resolved.

We can make our request known by constantly calling the embassy. Their number is now reachable, although you have to be patient enough to call more than 3 times before you receive response from them (the issue about calling is that sometimes, when you tell them your enquiry is on study visa, they will want to forward your call to the consular unit, from experience, the consular unit has never picked our calls before, but the admin at the high commission has been very helpful in receiving calls)....

I submitted March 16th!. I think we need to come together as a force to call them out! This is rubbish! Imagine people losing out on opportunities and important deadlines, just because some persons have decided to be lazy about their job! Or could this be as a result of internal corrupt practices? (If you want to be attended to on time, you need to pay some certain "agent" some huge amount of money to fast track your application. It's high time we trended these people on social media and call them out on their BS!! Who is in with me??

Response time is slow on Nairaland.
I would suggest that we create a whatsapp group and do some deliberations there...

Or should we wait till the end of this week?

Please affected applicants should speak up, I don't think this is the time to keep quiet...

I guess we should wait till the end of this week since some applicant received back their passports 2 weeks ago.

Also, I guess some people do not have any other plan B, which implies that whatsoever next step we are to take, should not bring a red flag to our application. Na we go apply to their country, so na beg we wan beg...lol

We should also keep calling the official number on the site so as to relate our respective issues and believe God for quick response.

i think we should wait till the end of this week before we aggressively call them out on Social Media. Yes i am a study visa applicant.
If you check the thread from the early pages and old tweets from as far back as 2018, you'll see this is how they behave. It's unfair to put 6-8weeks for processing time on vfs website, only to wait 4-5 months, of which visa is still not certain!. Time waits for no one! We are going there to spend money na, it's not free. Guys wake up!!!
