which device has the 120hz refresh rate?
Re: 120hz Refresh Rate by Onyeka90210(m): 9:23am On Jun 18, 2022
Ehn when you start using it, you may not really feel it, you'll only notice it when you go back to 60hz, you'll feel the 60hz is choppy.
If you're using 60hz currently and your eyes is used to it, you can continue, but if you decide to go 120hz, there's really no coming back.
I'll pick 60hz on a better display (wqhd) than 120hz on a 1080p fhd display.

It is there,in the smoothness and fluidity..
60Hz feels choppy in comparison.

My came with a 120Hz display, after using it for two weeks, I switch back to 60Hz to save my battery. Maybe it's just my eyes because I no dey see any significant difference.

I have 120hz device but I use 90hz to save battery, I only use 60hz when battery is below 20% and I'm away from charger

Uh... not really. I use Note10+ and my bro uses Note20u. I have done a side by side comparison, and trust me, the difference is only slightly noticeable as you scroll through the app drawer, browser apps and settings.

However, when you play heavy games like PUBG, Note20u loads noticeably faster, but playing the game itself is very smooth on both devices. It helps that my Note 10+ has more Rams (12gb) than my bro's (8gb).

Anyways, the 120hz is just a gimmick since it's a battery killer. My bro defaults his Note20u on 60hz to conserve battery and maximize performance.

No it isn't. Just because 120hz is slightly faster on paper doesn't make 60hz choppy.

I've used both 60Hz and 120Hz RR on my device and I can tell the difference and it is no gimmick..
If I mistakenly left it on 60Hz,a few scrolls is all it takes for me to notice.
Certainly,it is not going to make a badly optimized device,to run and operate better than it would..
But it being a gimmick,I beg to differ..

My 12gb RAM, 60hz device is well optimised and never comes close to running out of memory to warrant a laggy or choppy behavior. The transitions between apps is smooth. Scrolling is also smooth.

I can't speak for other brands of course, but speaking from my experience with Samsung galaxy Note10+ and my bro's Galaxy Note20 Ultra, the difference in refresh rates is only slight, and only noticeable when you load games, but goes away when you play them.

Edit; I forgot to add the camera comparison. This is where the 120hz really shines. My bro's Note20u completely trashed my Note10+ in this department, everything (from zoom to 8k shots) is just so smooth. Luckily, I'm not a camera person, so I can live with that. cheesy

A higher refresh rate does not improve or impact performance, it just makes the activities on your display smoother because it is displaying more objects (pictures) per second.

Some people have a hard time noticing the differences. For me, I notice the giant difference btw 60 and 90hz, and some people don't (but this I doubt because the difference is staggering), but I honestly cannot tell the difference btw 90 and 120hz (some people do).

Noticing the differences depends on your eye sensitivity. If you don't then your eyes aren't great sensitivity wise.

I own an Ultra and the 120hz rr is very smooth but I'm a performance guy first.

Running 120hz requires you to disable high performance mode on the phone and you must reduce the resolution to 1080.

so I don't think the 120hz is worth it so I just run my Ultra on 60hz, at full resolution and high performance mode.

In my Ultra you can tell the differences between 120hz, 90hz and 60hz. Mainly when scrolling or gaming.

But it requires you to make some sacrifices. I don't use 120hz anymore.

My phone is permanently set on 60hz.

the difference between 60hz and 120hz is apparent but not staggering. 120hz is just smoother.
