Good Afternoon Menz and Womenz In De Room.. Pls I Intend To Obtain A Desktop And A Cpu as It Is Much Cheaper Compared To A Laptop.,and I Want to Know If A Desktop Can serve The Purpose of A Laptop For Programming...(i'm In A Tight Budget ).
I Dont Have A Single Working Knowledge In Programming but I Believe That I Can Do Almost everything Anyone Else Can Do.. .
But After Buying My Desktop And I See That Programming i'snt for Me,i Will Try Other Digital Areas..
I NEED UNA ADVICE PLS

Would advice u get a laptop sha since it's mobile and you can take it anywhere with you even if you're traveling

With desktops you'd always sit at one spot

And with this job you'd be doing one thing for hours

Unless your desktop comes with a barrow you can use to be moving it about

^_^ haha thanks for the advice tho..mobility is not a problem,as i dont even go out much,and even ASUU is not even giving any headway..
i just want to know if its possible to use a desktop to learn programming efficiently SIR ^_^

It depends

For mobile application I don't think so... unless you'd MOD your desktop and add extra RAM and improve processor.


For web apps... yes... web apps don't need your system to have huge RAM or spec to compile and run your code.

But to code with ease in either Web or Mobile/desktop related apps... you'd need a system that's fast

It really depends on the desktop specs though. A really powerful desktop is always better than it's laptop counterparts plus it's easily upgradable but if it's those 20k pentium 4 desktops at computer village men anything you see there you take it.

Rightly said, I am currently using a Desktop PC to learn. Its a Dell Optiplex 330 Tower. I had to upgrade the ram to its max which is 4 Gig Ram to support windows 10. its an old PC of 160 Gig HDD but it's currently serving me as I am on a tight budget too. I am currently doing ALX SE Course and since they have a sandbox to practice and submit tasks, that desktop go serve me wella till I save up cash for a good laptop. I am also doing Google Android Developer Course on Plural sight with Andela but I won't dare install Android Studio for that Desktop. Just VS Code, Git for now. so if you want buy desktop, try go for ones that can carry up to 8 Gig Ram
