Even if you don't return back to your old ways, are you certain your fasting exercise was not in vain to begin with?

God said He does not want your starvation-diet kind of fasting - Isaiah 58 vs 1 - 5 - nor does he desire your prayer circuses where you scream and shout in vain at the top of your lungs and in the presence of third-parties - Matthew 6 vs 6 - 15. . Instead of you starving yourselves, He wants you to instead engage yourselves in the doing of good works on those days you are supposedly fasting- Isaiah 58 - 6 - 13 - and when you pray, He commands that you do so in hiding and where no one can hear you.

Ok. So explain to me then what it is that God calls for you to do on your day of fasting, going by His edict there in Isaiah 58.
