Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Wednesday broke with President Biden’s repeated attempts to blame Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine for the highest inflation in 40 years.

Powell, confirmed last month to a second term as chairman, explained to the Senate Banking Committee that “inflation was high before” the Feb. 24 Russian invasion of Ukraine, which increased global food and energy prices.

Hagerty asked Powell, “Given how inflation has escalated over the past 18 months, would you say that the war in Ukraine is the primary driver of inflation in America?”

“No, inflation was high before — certainly before the war in Ukraine broke out,” Powell said.

how does the dissent account for the fact that one of the mass shootings near the top of its list took place in Buffalo? The New York law at issue in this case obviously did not stop that perpetrator.

A US woman has fatally shot a man who opened fire on a crowd of people with a semi-automatic rifle in Charleston, West Virginia.

Dennis Butler, a 37-year-old with an extensive criminal history, was killed after he targeted a group of around 40 people attending a birthday party.

Police spokesman Tony Hazelett said the woman's quick reaction saved lives and may have prevented a mass shooting.

Most of the mass shooters are legal owners. I think one the the shooters last week(imagine the frequency) was even a registered gun dealer.
The argument about protection from criminals is moot, if most of the shooters no get criminal record.
Most criminals are rational actors, and their violence is usually logical relative to their criminal enterprise - if you no dey streets, and you no thief from thief, 8 out of 10 criminals are not looking for you.

I'm not interested in criminal business as criminals typically target themselves, and most of their innocent victims are collateral damage. You can largely predict where these ones are, and how they are likely to behave, and make informed decisions based on probability

It is the ones that wake up, as legal law abiding citizens, armed with legally obtained guns, that randomly go and shootup a school, church, supermarket that we cannot account or plan for. Therefore toting the draco is a necessity to deal with such fuckery
