Ned Nwoko: Labour Party Needs Control Of States To Make Obi President by AlexReports(m): 2:22am On Jun 24, 2022
A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Prince Ned Nwoko has said the swirl of support the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi is getting may not necessarily translate into electoral victory at the polls.

According to Ned, a former House of Representatives member, Labour Party needs a structure that is beyond the support base it is getting from Nigerians to achieve victory.

Speaking in a recent interview with BBC Igbo, the PDP Senatorial candidate for Delta North in 2023 general elections said the electoral success of Labour Party will only be anchored in its control of a good percentage of the National Assembly as well as the state Houses of Assembly.

"The support base is there with the labour unions, there are so many of them, students, the market people and all that. So he is a popular candidate, he will even be more popular in coming months.

"But he cannot become the President because he doesn't have the structure. His party doesn't have control of any State House of Assembly. He must have some Labour Party members controlling some states assemblies, he must have some Labour Party members in significant number in House of Representatives and Senate for him to become President.

"If by chance he becomes the President, how can he function with the PDP controlling the National Assembly for instance?" he queried.

The billionaire businessman therefore advised the Labour Party to work towards establishing some structures, which he said will take some years.

On his relationship with Peter Obi a former governor of Anambra state, Prince Ned Nwoko extolled his humility, recalling how as a governor, Peter Obi booked flights and hotel rooms for him by himself.

He also said Obi never came like other governors who visited him in London with retinue of aides, stating that the former Anambra governor came in most simplistic manner.

He further commended Obi's knowledge of the country's economy as a big player in the business world, saying the PDP needs him back to its fold so that he will deploy his knowledge to the nation's economic engine room if the party wins in 2023 presidential election.

Ned Nwoko had earlier urged the Labour Party to focus on building a lasting structure, his counsel was however misconstrued to be an attack on the person of Peter Obi and the Labour Party

Peter Obi is a blessing to tinubu no doubt.
There's a reason presidential and senatorial election are held same day.
60% of voters are affiliated to one political party or individual.
Go and check previous results and you'll understand that whichever senator wins that ward, same applies to the presidential candidate of that party.
Na where Peter Obi loose out.

Not necessarily true.
What makes 2023 totally unique is that the youths are only interested in the presidential election, and I won't be surprised if they just vote for Peter Obi and go home.
Is there any law against it? Nope.
Not saying that Labor has no plans to field formidable legislative candidates, but that won't sway the peoples' focus about electing a president they trust.
If there is a credible trust worthy legislative candidate under any party, he or she will still be voted for.
But you see these habitual thieves? Lai lai, they will not win this time.
One of them just got caught in London for organ harvesting.
All of them will bite the dust this time!

We need a free and fair election first

Mumu.
Even APC was a new party before the general election.

Believe me, if Tinubu or Atiku etc support Peter Obi today, all of una go switch talks, come remember Obi deserves it.

So keep waiting for your lord or party fathers before you do the right thing.

Truth, but unfortunately the obidient children will not agree.
Voting is controlled by the LGA/ward stakeholders under the directive of the state leaderships.
That's why a party that will win a polling unit is predicted based on the party of affiliation of the stakeholders there.

Thank you Mr Ned. All I can say here is Mr Ned is partially becoming OBI-dient.

In coming months, some senators and house of representatives and assemblies that have integrity will decamp to Labour party and they will see those structures according to their analysis.

Any politician that joins labour party now must be of great integrity. Knowing the calibre of the person of Mr Obi.
The way we see things, Ned will soon move to Labour party too. Thank you once again for your advice. We OBI-dients appreciate you

Don't worry Abt that bro. when he becomes president, we shall jump the hurdles.

APGa had structures in Anambra, yet he was impeached. All criminals will come after him anyways whether he's under structures or not.

One of his quality is working under pressure..

Just as ned had a very good structure for small girls, That's his opinion. They cant Rigg this election

They talk as if structure votes. These people clearly indirectly tell us they decide who wins and not our votes.

If everyone votes for me why do I need a structure?

The crowd is the structure: Peter Obi 2022
