I’m guessing he drowned before he was rescued but irreparable brain damage had already taken place thus rendering him brain dead hence coma and life support.

If you think like this, then you'd just be existing without living. Even when in Nigeria, you're still "out there" provided you're not in your father's house. The dude went abroad to establish himself just like anyone would go to Lagos or PH to do same. Swimming in Lagos isn't different from swimming in Germany. What happened to him was accident and it could have happened anywhere, home or not. No need to blame the dead.

It was a lake. If you go to a standard swimming pool at peak hours where the life guards are around, you are a lot safer, just learn how to swim and everything would be fine.
