Your statement should be more inclusive: it's not as if Muslims across the country are not being kidnapped and killed. This is not a religious issue at all - as there have also been numerous attacks on mosques - and the government needs to stop pussyfooting about it.

This crisis has its origins in several places:
- climate change is causing hardships in northern West Africa (Mali, Niger, Chad, etc)
- destabilization (encouraged by the US) caused by the Arab Spring
- importation of thugs by politicians to disrupt the previous administration
- tacit acceptance by Northern ruling elite, but their minions are getting out of control

You're right... it should be the headache of all Nigerians. We claim to be our brothers' keeper, but turn a blind eye if our brother is of a different faith; and it's even worse if it's some of the other faith that are doing the killing.

The truth is, both Jonathan and Buhari administrations have been ineffective to stop the terror. What a government does is take the killings of any of its people seriously, regardless of origin or faith or gender. You can say it has gotten worse, and that's true, but it's not because Jonathan was particularly effective nor because Buhari is a sympathizer.

It's just a natural consequence of a growing cancer: it simply gets bigger if you let it, which both administrations have done. A serious government, with forces loyal to the country, would stop this nonsense within months.
