ASUU strike: Tinubu should tell Buhari to release funds to end action – Obi’s camp

The Peter Obi Support Network (POSN) has reacted to meetings by the standard flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 presidential election, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu with the striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The campaign group described as needless such meetings, saying that the APC presidential candidate should have held a meeting with the recalcitrant President Muhammadu Buhari and tell him to release funds for ASUU, rather than funding APC campaigns.

In a statement on Thursday by the POSN Deputy Director of Communications, Mr Adegbite Adekunle which was made available to journalists, I’d, the ASUU strike was one of the manifest failures of the Buhari administration.

The statement urged the striking lecturers not to allow itself to be used as political mercenaries, insisting that what Tinubu was doing was a campaign stunt.

The statement read:. “Nigerian universities have been on lockdown for more than two years since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Nigerians are afraid that their students will continue the stay-at-home pandemic unless the ruling party is kicked out of government.”

Lol.

Wetin concern Obi Pandora team about the action of Asiwaju? Same guys that always accuse Tinubu of giving them Buhari.

So why are they bitter if Tinubu is trying to speak to ASUU? Did Obi Pandora ask ASUU for audience and they denied him?

I think what we should do is that presidential candidate should be allowed to pick one aspect of Nigeria problem, propose solution that’s practical, solve them if need be, and we can then use that to judge if we should vote them in the election.

Nigeria is ours, and we have to do everything to make it right, we shouldn't be fighting each other on our political convictions and on whicg candidate or party we support, let's look at past events, track records, allegations, personal lives of each candidate and choose or vote on order of merit, not on benefits derived principles.
We have to do everything possible (violence excluded) within our means to sensitize, educate, and motivate both the learned and unlearned on who will look out for them when elected , not people who just want to be in power to achieve or satisfy their selfish goals or desires

The only solution Tinubu can provide to end ASUU strike is to help the federal government pay the 1.2 trillion that is owed to ASUU, any other solution he is bringing to the table is rubbish because he is not in capacity to negotiate or enter any agreement for the federal government.

Buhari doesn't see anything to gain from education so he isn't bothered. Atleast, all his children schooled or shooling abroad.

I pity those campaigning for these old greedy and power mongering men.

Exactly.

Tinubu says he has been allowed to negotiate with ASUU.

Well, ASUU wants money.

Anything else is a waste of time.

If you cannot tell your president to release money, then stop wasting our time with politics.

Yes na.

The twist to this is that they will settle with ASUU and schools will resume shortly before the elections.

That way, a lot of students will be disenfranchised, because they registered their PVCs at home, and 2, APC will count the settlement as a political point.

Shame of a leadership.

Tinubu as Lautech's chancellor did nothing when the school was shut down for nearly a year when he had "his boys" as co-visitors of the school, we even heard that his way of trying to resolve the issue was to buy the school from the 2 State governments. All of a sudden, he has been given the green light to negotiate for FG. FG knows ASUU's stand and they should go with it and stop playing politics with the strike.
