Firstly say what you know ...Enugu water board still functions , imo still functions ...but the reality is it's far more economical to dig a borehole down south ...it's cheaper 80k to 400k ..and you won't spend more than 5k per year for pumping water
imo is not functioning under supreme court governor

The Administration of Saraki,Fatai and the present Abdulrasak have recked the legacy projectnif visionary leaders of yesteryears.
Pilfering culture of these governor's created the current mess, and by God's grace and people's will ,they shall be purged come 2023.
Nigeria must be purged of bad leadership by all means.

The eastern region makes governance seems very hard. I have never seen a state water running in homes. Everybody is digging boreholes for themselves. Even with the river Niger, water is still hard. Don’t really know about southwest.

Lagos state water board still dey exist?
During my secondary school days in Owerri, we had running water till I left In 2004..
But Ohakim, Rochas and Now Uzodinjo has finally buried a once functioning ministry
Re: Is Your State’s Water Board Still Functional? by treatise: 4:31pm On Jul 17, 2022

I don't think the one in Lagos is functioning. Their station close to Teslim Balogun stadium is always idle, though I do see people in there but I can tell you that most part of surulere suffer from dirty and unclean water.
The one in Lagos works in parts of the state. My experience with them has mostly been on the island and they work. Ikoyi and Lekki at least where I know they have meters installed at properties. Supply is not 100% but they are marginally operational in these areas

I am deeply concerned to ask this question on a forum like this to read the reactions and feelings of Nigerians concerning basic infrastructure needs like water in a state.

How many states can boast of portable water running through their houses(I’m not talking about boreholes)...I mean tap water provided by the state govt.

Growing up in the North(Kaduna state to be precise,in d 90s) I still recall how water runs through pipes and then flows to our kitchen tap. Sometimes we don’t see the water for some days and when it finally comes we all become excited for this basic amenity.
This is 2022,how many states can boast of pipe borne water to her people? It’s no longer news that individuals are now providing basic amenities for themselves while those whom they voted into power no longer do their job. For goodness sake why should individuals be sinking boreholes all in the name of having water run through their homes? Where is the govt?

Is this how it is in South Africa?
Is this how it is in Ghana?
Is this how it is in Kenya?
Is this how it is in Rwanda?

If something as simple as tap water can’t be running in homes of millions of Nigeria..can we then say governance in Nigeria is indeed a rocket science? I think the East has a billion and one sunken boreholes than any region. I maybe wrong

I want an open discussion on this thread, pls be objective as possible don’t bring tribal war here.

Is governance in Nigeria a rocket science?
Abuja water board is still functioning.
I know many streets in Kubwa phase 4 with no single borehole. All the houses depends on Govt water and it barely fails.

Don’t know

Osun used to have .. under Akande .. don’t know if it’s functional

Truly the East makes governance difficult.. even their governors are confused ..
The last time I saw a tangible effort been made towards making pipeborne water available to the indigenes of Osun state was during Oyinlola era as far back as 2005/2006 or so. I don't know about any effort made by Aregbesola during his tenure sef. We don't have water problem around here sha, as almost every home either have a well or borehole.

This topic sounds so allian to me , all my life I don't know what is water board in reality only in news during Peter obi administration in anambra ,

We should talk of good town planning first before circulating water to home , I see my borehole as the best for me ,
No wonder the east don't care about the government because virtually they do most things for themselves.

providing such service is merely the function of a state. but what would you say wen people form a govt in abuja and hoard ur resources with force. do you now wait for them to come provide u with basic amenities which u could easily take up as a profession??

Abeg what part of Enugu o?
Cos I served in Enugu state, Udi local government and getting water was a huge problem there. In fact, it was the Catholic Church near the Udi local government Secretariat that was helping the members of the local government around the area with water. Like the whole area will assemble at their mission house to get water, the church even went further as to supply the corper's lodge with water on selected days too. grin

And for your info, I was initially posted to Akpakwume village in Udi local government before I relocated to the main part of town. Pipe borne water provided by government ke, where you wan see am during the time I was there. grin

Are you trying to make a case for Fula control of river basins nationwide?

Because if you are, Yahweh will surely destroy you.
