Hello mamas, posting this for my friend.

Pregnancy was going smoothly not untill 18 weeks (5 months). She took TT and Malaria drug for the first time. She couldn't sleep with serious abdominal pains that has been lasting for more than 24 hours now. She went back to the hospital and Dr said it's Pre Term Contractions. She was given Nifecure.

Scan has been done, LO is doing fine but Intramural Fibroids was discovered. Please is there any way to manage the pains? It's unbearable and can't even stand well or sleep well.
How do we manage the pregnancy and the fibroid and how to stop the pain

I had similar pain for 2days around same time, I called a gynae who advised me to take diclofenac if I don't have ulcer or paracetamol in the absence of diclofenac. I took paracetamol and got some relief but I couldn't stand the thought of always having such pain so I embarked on serious prayers too. Pain has disappeared. She can consult with a gynae to be sure if she can take the diclofenac as well but I believe she can take it so long as she's not a known ulcer patient. They are all pain reliever

Took my 2nd dose of TTC today, Chai GH Badagry Don Dey improve o got there for ANC around 7:30am picked number 4 and around 10-10:30pm I don Dey catwalk home... Appointment shifted to 3weeks it means we are almost there.

Now on a more serious note, mama's I do increase PCV o, cos after all the hospital too far I drank PCV is just 28%

Folic Acid Update:
#atgfolicacid

All women who could become pregnant are advised to take Folic 400 mcg daily from 12 weeks before conception till you are 12 weeks pregnant ( most importantly).

There is no harm in taking it all through pregnancy, but the benefit is more and best achieved if taken from 12 weeks before conception till you are 12 weeks pregnant.

Women at higher risks are those with the following ( and they should take a higher Dose ):

*Family history of neural tube defects (woman or father's family)

*Diabetes

*On anti epileptic medications

*BMI more than 30

*Coeliac disease

*Thalassemia

Folic 5mg daily from 12 weeks before conception till you are 12 weeks pregnant

All pregnant women should take 10 much of Vitamin D every day throughout pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

* however I am aware that most of the available options in Nigeria and some parts of Africa contain the high dose of 5mg folic acid: pls if this is what you have available kindly take it.

Folic acid comes as either 5mg or 400mcg as a tablet each ( or incorporated in routine antenatal medications ), One tablet is enough for a day.

Sickle Cell : ( important advice for those Pregnant mums with sickle cell anemia)
Take 1mg Folic acid at all times; and increase to 5mg: three months before and all through Pregnancy.

Okay. Then you guys should wait and visit on Thursday as directed. It's very possible for her to go into labour before then and if not, when you get to the hospital on Thursday, the doctor will further advice the next step. Encourage her to remove anxiety as it will only stress her. Small walks and squats can help prepare her and even for some people induce labour. She shouldn't be scared. Your baby will be in your arms sooner than you expect. She's on the right track. Also do as Shiller says.
