Please is it normal that since I applied on May 17th and doing biometrics on May 24th, my background check is still saying "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information." and eligibility is "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility." ? I even had to bombard them with mails and webforms before they updated my biometrics on June 28th and updated my upfront medicals on July 1. Who else is in this predicament ?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by Kolajero: 7:56pm On Jul 20, 2022
Good evening. My mum wants to send about 800k to my account and back it up with a Deed of Gift. She has never sent such amount to my account before and I have never received that much into my account too.

The reason we're using Deed of Gift is that I don't want to attach her bank statement to my application because she some other lump sum amount that I don't want to stress myself to explain.

So, I want to know if the Deed of Gift alone is enough without her bank statement based on the reason above?

I will appreciate answers from Gurus.

I am really grateful to God for His graciousness over me and my family because this can only be God. The journey to travel to Canada started with my hubby in 2020/2021 but he couldn't secure an admission. He also tried a UK sch but nothing positive. We both decided to switch the applicant and apply to Canada again and several UK schs. I became the Principal applicant for Canada and we both did several UK schs. I was given admission less than 2 weeks after I submitted my application and we both had 7 admissions all together from UK schs. We decided to stick with Canada as travelling to UK now is not beans. It was really a tough decision for us when we wanted to apply for Visa. We read of how it was best for one person to go first before others joining but the thought of leaving my husband and son behind scared me oo so we decided to put our faith in God and submit as a family. We praise the name of the Lord because it has ended in praise.

I'd like to say a big thank you to all our support system in this application for admission and Visa journey. God bless you all and to Nairaland family..you guys ehnn you too much. God bless you all including our gurus( Frank, Anon and several others. Your selfless service will never go unrewarded by the Almighty.
And to all PPR hopefuls you are next in Jesus name. Amen

Sorry for the long post, I just had to be explicit enough for others who want to apply as a family.

I worked as a sales assistant from 2015-2018, I was studying Economics at UI (dlc) but I think it’s irrelevant since I dropped the course. I went to Fashion school in 2018/2019 and started my own fashion business and own a fashion home.

.

Diploma in fashion marketing and management-- FASHAWE COLLEGE.
Diploma in Fashion business and management. - CENTENNIAL COLLEGE.
Diploma in Fashion business industry ‐ GEORGE BROWN COLLEGE
Diploma in fashion techniques and design ‐GEORGE BROWN COLLEGE.
These are just a few . You can also go for a Business management program.
I recommend this programs because they show career progression which also improve your chances of securing a study permit.
Another question I want to ask you is ;
Is your Fashion business registered?
Do you have records of income made from the fashion business?
Do you pay taxes ?
Will you sponsor yourself financially during study?
And lastly do you have assets to your name ?
These are some of the things the visa officer might look into, if you eventually submit a study permit application.

If you are applying outside your home country, make sure you submit a proof of legal resident i.e resident permit card(s), employment or business documents if you have , tax payer identification document and other immigrant document .Otherwise ,you better apply from your home country . I hope you find this helpful although I applied outside Nigeria but wasn't rejected based on immigration status

She showed most ties to Nigeria but what about the country she lives in?

What is her status in the country she applied from?
Does she work there?
If yes what kind of work contract does she have . Temporary or permanent contract?
Does she have any strong tie to that country?
I know of some whose study permit application got rejected for same reason , although the person was a temporary resident in the foreign country and was on temporary work permit without strong ties to the country too. He reapplied but this time chose Nigeria as his country of permanent resident. But used his foreign address on the application form. He showed his strong ties to Nigeria ( landed property and family) . His application was processed as if he was In Nigeria and his visa was approved.
The advice he was given by an immigration lawyer was that he stood a better chance if he applied from his country of Citizenship rather than a foreign country. And lastly he submitted a very strong Letter of Explanation explaining that he was working temporarily in the foreign country and would be returning to Nigeria after study and not the foreign country.
