So, in order to communicate via long distances cellular phones were invented, they had the power to operate on a high frequency other than the earlier PTT device. As time went by more better phone design were developed which made phones easy to handle and portable. Later on data technology were developed and integrated along with the voice technology. Other features are still been added up to today. Sim card on the other hand was mainly to identify a subscriber on a mobile phone network.
