I don't know who advices the current Nigeria leadership.

How will it make sense to them that someone who has been living the desert for all his life will make for better policing than someone who has been living in the creeks all his life?

Some states can support their own policing if allowed, states like Lagos and Anambra cannot allow the slow, heavy policing that has been slowing their states businesses and delaying court processes.

Bringing police hierarchy from the North to police southern States or vice versa is only a recipe for disaster. Let people police the areas they can understand.

Foul. Atiku can't even afford to create State Police, talk less, total restructuring of Nigeria democratically.

Northern politicians will not join Atiku on political restructuring, because far north draws huge economic and political advantages from the existing political structure and unitary government system.

State Police would have come to exist long before now, if not that far north politicians fear that some southern regions can train militants and buy arms under State Police to secede from Nigeria.

Imagine a Shettima in charge of State Police for his State. Hisbah is abusive in the North, Amotekun has had some unnecessary clashes and Ebubeagu was accused of killing some youths in Imo state.

There has to be checks and balances on governors in regards to this state police issues

As there are State laws there will also be Federal laws.
The state police will not be able to operate outside the ambit of state laws.
And there should be Federal police to ensure Federal laws are respected and obeyed.
There is nothing to it.

Most people fear that their civil liberties will be affected by state police.
But in most climes where there is a layered architecture the Federal police always has the final say.

If our electoral system is reformed into voting competent people, than rigging into power, things like such won't happen.

They all know. It's just ethnoreligious sentiments. Rather than see someone that is capable become president, they'll rather wreck the country by voting a fellow tribes man because he's from their place or of same religion. That's what's killing us in this country

If I were to be president of Nigeria for a day, I would invest massively on THREE major things known as 'SET' ;

1. Technology
2. Security
3. Economy.

Mind you, 1 & 2 contribute to the growth of ECONOMY.

Therefore, when the economy is booming, SECURITY and TECHNOLOGY keep advancing. This will result to the advancement of other institutions of the state.

BUT there is a challenge 'CORRUPTION'.
It is very difficult to tackle corruption in a federal system where corruption as eaten up all the spheres of the society. E.g Nigeria.

For me, For this country to advance towards greater heights, we need a leader that is INNOVATIVE and ready to make 'some policies' that will discourage CORRUPTION and encourage PERFORMANCE.

These policies have to be made into law for all political aspirants and leaders to strictly adhere to. These policies will determine their elongation in power.

THESE POLICIES HAVE TO BE WRITTEN IN THE NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION!!!

You are smart. Most people just scream state police without thinking of its implications.

1. The state police will simply become a governor's own ethnic military force.

2. Criminals will simply migrate to states with the least security funding and the quality of life will become lower in those states.
