I'm concerned, but not shocked in any way, that the most prominent reaction to the interview that Arise News conducted last week with the presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has been sheer tittle-tattle about location, and format and silly ego games. It is a measure of the confusion in the land, and the failure to focus on ideas and concrete issues. The big problem that we face in this country, six months to the 2023 general election, is the obsession with minutiae and the irrelevant. This must be considered a national tragedy considering the challenges before us.https://www.thecable.ng/2023-politics-without-ideas/amp

Spot on! But how do you discuss ideas when some people expend a lot of energy on religion or Tinubu's sweat soaked agbada. When some people are threatening everyone who say anything negative about their candidates. It is not the fault of the candidates that they are not discussing ideas and policies when the public themselves are discussing inanity. |

Theweb:Exactly what Reuben wrote up there. We are not keen to delve deeper into main issues bedeviling our country, no matter how lengthy...rather we dwell on peripherals and shallow mantras. Soo pathetic. The plethora of National issues are lengthier than that articulate masterpiece penned down by Reuben! I read it all! |

A careful perusal of d above write-up with concise apprehension of d current realities within our country succinctly tilts inbd direction of Mr Peter Obi as d needed vessel to put us back on track towards achieving once again d great goals expected of us as a nation that will translate into economic prosperity, a more secured nation and manageable per capital index that will create d middle class and as such usher in a self reliant motherland. |

U can see how reuben abati quietly returned to what he was doing before his political appointment... I doubt whether femi adesina and garba shehu will be able to do d same after buhari's tenure.... I don't know why abati is taking most people on twitter seriously... U asked for an interview with presidential candidates, they went all out to meet with the former vice president to it, then u still see people on twitter talking about location, that why didn't they invite him to d studio.. Instead of analysing what he said.. If u start wondering why ASUU is still on strike na one of d reasons bdis |

This shalaye is too much abeg. This makes a whole lot of sense. It's a pity. We seem to be heading for doom and when that doom comes, we will still continue to make the same mistake while being doomed. The society we live in is plagued with morally dubious and bankrupt individuals. Ideas they say, rule the world, but not in, Nigeria, then you wonder if Nigeria is even on this planet. This is really a shame. Nice write up from Dr. Abati. |

At least Atiku and Peter Obi talk directly to the people via TV interview and social media. Tinubu on the other hand is just continuing what Buhari is currently doing, which is having his media aids speak platitudes on his behalf. Also, Peter Obi has been very clear about the focus of his administration, and that is turning Nigeria from consumption to production. If this succeeds many other things will be solved. As for solving power, security and the other immediate problems, replicating the model of countries like Egypt and Singapore, would produce better result. But for this to be possible, you need a decisive leader. |

He has a point, majority of Nigerians are quite petty, they like to dwell on the trivial and unimportant stuff, and never debate the important issues. |
