seunmsg:A bloody lie like you; it seems you are the one that inherited the linage tribal politics. Considering his widespread popularity and charismatic appeal, anti-Azikiwe Yoruba elites now faced the realistic possibility of Zik leading the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) party to capture not just the eastern regional assembly but also the western one. In March 1951, Awo and his mostly Yoruba supporters established the Action Group (AG) party to prevent Zik from winning the western election, and in effect becoming the most powerful political leader in the entire southern Nigeria. Accordingly, the main themes in AG’s campaign messaging that year were opposition to Zik, the idea the west should be for “Westerners”, and the threat of “Ibo domination.” Awo’s Nigerian Tribune newspaper claimed Zik’s “political and social activities had this Ibo-domination inclination” for years. The paper also urged Zik, who was contesting a seat in the Yoruba-majority city of Lagos, to stay out of western politics since he did not belong to the region “by birth”. An editorial in Tribune stated it was “an insult to all westerners” for Zik, an Igbo, to be contesting in their region. Why could he not go and contest in his eastern “homeland”? Meanwhile, AG campaign posters urged “true born” western Nigerians to vote AG because it stood for “western solidarity |

mycar:Three regional homogeneity were established for administrative purposes. The Western region, Eastern and Northern region. These three had each of their leaders with legitimate authority over the affairs of each region such that an Awolowo would not interven in the affairs of the northern region neither an Ahmadu being nosy in the policy implementation of the east and west nor an Azikiwe in the affairs of an independent regions of the west and North. Of the three leaders, Azikiwe would not only 100% in control of his eastern region but had the insatiable covetousness of wanting to control the affairs of a region with which he had no homogeneity. In 1945, Azikiwe had this to say: "From all indications, the God of Africa has destined igbos to rule the whole of Africa"..... Nnamdi Azikiwe (1945). Being a typical virtue of the ibos, they are loud mouthed and would always readily reveal their malicious intentions however gullible it may sound. Azikiwe's greed and avaricious thirst for power, conquest and domination of other tribes would push him beyond his bound into the absy of nothingness. Ahmadu Bello responded to the natural instinct of ibos in trying to hijack what belongs to the Northern indigenes to themselves. While Awolowo also responded by saying; “It seemed clear to me that [Azikiwe’s] policy was to corrode the self-respect of the Yoruba people as a group; to build up the Ibo as a ‘master-race.’” Awolowo and Ahmadu saw through Azikiwe and his kinsmen and put them where they rightly belong. |

candidtalk:You speak like someone that has lost tune with reality. Is it the Tinubu that brought the Buhari that you're talking about? The Tinubu that lacks judgement of right and wrong? A drug lord that is no longer young and could support the killing of youths at Lekki toll gate? Is it the same Tinubu that can no longer walk without being supported? Some of you zombies are so daft. Just stop lying and tell us that you're an undercover Jihadists that wants Shettima, the Boko Haram kingpin to be your president. We are not fooled by the Tinubu front. |

femisplash:So ,you agree with me that Yoruba started the regionalization, as Igbos hoped in, it became a taboo? During Abiola time, he was contesting as a Nigeria president, OBJ contested as a Nigeria president, Osinbanjo, as Nigeria VP, now Peter Obi wants to contest, the chant is , he is contesting as an Igbo president, hypocrites everywhere! |

seunmsg:Voted by Tribalists or who? The political achievement by zik in Lagos was because Lagos was the capital city where other tribes outnumbered the Tribalists. Once you are charismatic and intellectual sound , Lagosians will queue beside you. |

mycar:You mean Igbos in Lagos voted Zik in as a member of the western regional assembly and not Yorubas in Lagos? That’s quite interesting. Hopefully, woke Yorubas who intend to vote in the fraud called Obi Pandora are reading your submissions. In the next ten to twenty years, Igbo folks will turn around and claim all the votes gotten by Peter Obi in the SW were from Igbos leaving in the region. Keep up your delusion buddy. I’m done with you. |

English seunmsg:English comprehension is definitely your problem here. Check where I mentioned that other tribes outnumbered the Tribalists. In short, lemme break it down, they outnumbered the Tribalists like you. It's not all Yorubas that are tribalist, I know many of them. Progressive minded ones. Only struggling people envy progressive minded people. Any wealthy person envying people he alleged to be better than is greedy and insane. |

mycar:Yoruba started regionalization?. Lol. Did you pass through school at all? The British created three distinctive regions each with its regional leader. What justification had Azikiwe to maraud into another man's region while holding tight to his. There was never a time either of Awolowo or Ahmadu Bello sought to become the Premier of Eastern region. But Azikiwe wanted his 1945 speech to become manifest by supervising the domination of ibos on the regions across the country, he would disrespect the leaders of other regions and try to supplant them. |

mycar:Amalgamation happened in 1914. Thereafter Nigeria operated several constitutions under different Governor Generals. Although Nigeria had been practicing some form of federalism under Sir Authur Richards in 1946, not until Machpherson Constitution of 1951 that gave birth to regionalism and regional autonomy. Pls, stop embarrassing yourself and go pick up a history book. |

FinestWine:Is it that you can't bring up important political issues for discussion rather than just whipping up tribal sentiments to cause distractions. Nigeria is at crossroads. This is no time for u to cry over some Yoruba vs Igbo vs Hausa/Fulani bull shit. Leave that for babies. Join hands with progressives let's salvage this country. If u support BAT or anyone else, that's ur right & u r entitled to it but I strongly urge u to campaign for him objectively. PO isn't ur problem, he is reasonably trying to sell his vision and candidacy to Nigerians which is rekindling hope that Nigeria's lost glory can be restored. At the same time he is energising the electorates and u can't deny the effects; a massive surge in PVC registration across most parts of the country. Nigeria is in dire straits, quit playing trbal politics for now. Let's vote right & pray for the best else we will have no one to blame for the consequences of settling for less. The mistakes of 2015 & 2019 impacted negatively on our national life setting us back to depths we've never experienced as a people. |

femisplash:It was never an absolute regional autonomy, it is similar to what we still have now, read the constitution, region can develop from their pocket while central government has a veto power over every region. Besides that, eastern region was still marginalized but that's a topic for another day. Whatever the case, it's high time we gave an igbo man a chance. Tinubu and Atiku can wait. Peter Obi can't be worse than Buhari. No country develops in a disharmony |
