Lagos on the move!

Logistics will take an efficient turn now, which will impact our economy positively.

I pity our neighbours.
Lagos for all, a state for all Nigerians. I think they should work more on road infrastructure to improve movement of people and goods. Is that land for all.

Nothing to do with Tinubu maybe but how is it a FG project? The federal government is not funding the port with one Naira . Go and read the story.

Also the work to persuade the Private investor to choose Lagos state is credit to LASG

I guess you need to read who owns ports in Nigeria, It is just like the airport also. They are all owned by the federal Government..Concessions is a normal thing , most roads are currently been built through that means, and once the investors recup their money they will handover to the federal government.

Only lagos state have how many ports? Whereas the south east and south are begging for even riverport!

What is stopping them from inviting investors to build ports in their?

Sitting on your black ass and playing the victim, is not a strategy for development. Hold your leaders to account and set expectation, I would expect Ondo and Ogun states to start building their own deepsea ports.

Federal Executive Council(FEC) today approved the Development of the Badagry Deep-Sea Port, on Build-Own-Operate-Transfer(BOOT) Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model

There's nothing political here, this is about leadership and governance.

LASG tried for so many years to get this project off the ground, but suffered a lot of setbacks, but they did not give up, they found private investors ready to fund the project hence the FEC approval.

Now, the states you listed just have to do copy and paste from Lagos, do the hard work, don't give up, look for private investors, give the incentives and conducive support to generate such investments.

The sad thing about some governments and Nigerians is sitting around while other people are doing the hard work, showing leadership and generate investments.

They want to be like Lagos, but they don't want to do the hard work like the leaders in Lagos state, nothing comes easy, you have to work for it, blaming the FG for your incompetence won't get you anything.

When we have deep sea somewhere else that requires no single dredging, we prefer to dredge another sea to build seaport because we want all the sea port in Lagos, tomorrow we will be talking about diversifying the economy and country.

Buhari and his government are playing politics with Akwa ibom deep sea port project.

FG only approved. It's solely a Public-private partnership. The question you should ask is, what are the governor and people of the state above doing that they are not attracting Private investors?

Two things

1. There is no law or enactment that says FG owns ports. Every single concession is a contract and it depends on what is written in the contract . This is a Build operate and Transfer contract without reading the contract do not jump to conclusions about ownership after the concession period. It could transfer to the FG OR the FG and LASG . Nothing in the constitution stops that
2. It has nothing to do with airports they are completely separate arrangements

It is ignorant and patronizing to come online and tell people what they need to read. You think you know but do not know as much as you think you do

You claim all airports in Nigeria are owned by the FG

Can you substantiate that?

If you have a point to make make it about the ports . Extending that to airports and roads is beer parlor logic.

Every concession is a CONTRACT
No two contracts are the same. You are assuming that they are . I can tell you there is nothing in the constitution to support that assumption

This project will be financed by private sector and not FG. FG is giving approval because port operation is on exclusive list. If other states want seaport, they should look for private investors and present the proposal to FG. Buhari will not deny them approval.

They will still collect their duties regardless but that doesn't mean the port is wholly-owned by the government like it used to be.

Good news. But development of the country should be evenly spread.

Lagos state has Apapa Port and Tincan Island Ports. Major patrons of these Ports are people of South East extraction. They are the major importers.

Sadly, no single Port in the southeast stretch. They freight their goods from Lagos Ports and onward bound southeast. This is not fair.

Yet,another Port is to be added to existing Ports at Badagry, less than 60 kilometers from Lagos. Where is the fairness and justice.

This skewed development is what's giving rise to separatist agitations in the country. FG could do better by spreading development to all regions of the country Not only Lagos.

Restructuring of the country is key to development and national cohesion.

Eastern leaders should wake up to these injustices!
