Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has told Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that if the All Progressives Congress (APC) had picked Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as its presidential candidate he would have declared support for the Vice President after he lost out in the PDP primaries. A source close to the meeting which held at Namadi Sambo's residence in Abuja told Chronicle NG that Wike gave Atiku some conditions, if they must work together and he made it clear that if Atiku doesn't meet the conditions, he might be forced to work with Peter Obi. The Rivers government however stressed that working for or with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is not an option. The meeting was subsequently adjourned to allow Atiku go home to process the demands made by Wike before returning to the negotiation table. According to the source, "The first thing Wike told Atiku is that he is lucky APC didn't pick Osinbajo, otherwise he would have declared for Osinbajo and APC even if Osinbajo didn't ask for it." The 2023 general election would have been an easy ride for APC if the party had picked Osinbajo but there is nothing money can't do. Wike and Atiku's rift would in the long run help Peter Obi. |

So Obi is not even the first option to Wike? Odiegwu! I don't want to dwell in the past but,honesty the APC make the 2023 difficult for itself by underrating the overwhelming popularity, solidarity and goodwill of Prof. Osinbajo. The frenzy of the much propagated Obidient lately was the backlash from the APC presidential primaries that failed to produced a southern Christian presidential candidate most especially the starboy. The truth is that most non Igbo Christians are not comfortable with a SE presidential candidate cos of the inherent mistrust & distrust for the Igbos. However the choice of BAT by the APC leaves them with no alternative than to support the most viable Southern Christian candidate. 2 Likes |

Truth is; if they had implemented secret balloting & eliminated bribery/buying of delegates, Tinubu would never have won. But I don't blame Wike for finding it difficult to support Tinubu. He may have done well in Lagos but he is definitely too old & sick now to be burdened with Nigeria's huge problems. Besides Tinubu is too uncouth & controversial to occupy the exalted office of the president of FRN. If Osinbajo had emerged (+Zulum as Vice), I would have personally voted for them. As it stands, let's all do away with Brooms & Umbrellas and vote for Human Beings this time around.  1 Like 1 Share
