If your aim is to be entitled to PTA, then flight time must be 5hrs and above, i suggest you travel to nairobi, kenya. Flight time is 5hrs 20mins

This isn't confirmed but I don't think the SA embassy has issued any visa to Nigerians in the past 6weeks atleast.
I'm not refering to a specific type of visas cos I know people applying for different types of visas from Critical skills, appeal, study and visitors, none has received response yet.

Either it's due to system issues, gov't policies or intentional blockages, only Aaron Motsoaledi can confirm the true and exact cause but there are different rumours. The most sad part is that they are open to receiving more applications and are holding people's passports for ages.

It's far easier and more straight forward to get UK study or work visas today than to get SA visa.

One can get PTA to Rwanda, so far you don't use Rwanda air which is 4 and half hour from Lagos. Ethiopia airline and other airlines are more than five hours.

"Direct flight time" is what is applicable as i have always quoted in previous post. having stopovers to increase your flight time may not work with intelligent bankers, i know people who received PTA for flights to rwanda and uganda, with stopover at addis-ababa, but the issuer of the PTA did that at his or her own peril and you would not be there when he or she is being sanctioned.

The essence of the 5hrs flight time is to guide as per the distance of the destination in proximity to Nigeria.

Chad (Our close door neighbour) is less than 2hrs direct flight time from Lagos, does it automatically mean that when you take a 6hrs flight to doha(transit) and another 5hrs flight to Republic of chad, you then automatically qualify for PTA?

Can you imagine that! Yet they did not stop collecting more applications while having thousands of passports in their custody. They can only try that with Nigerians because they know we don't have leaders. They can not try that with countries that have structures. Holding people's passport for 6 to 8 months......Haba!!!

I first submitted my tourist visa application on the 28th of feb and got denial for the reason that I didn't tell them my source of income because I had huge inflow of about 150m n a closing balance of 5m. on that application I stated that I was a businessman and I submitted my business CAC doc. maybe because I have didn't tell them that I was running my business with my personal account. mind you, my uncle is a citizen and he sent me invitation letter, with a police stamped copy of his ID. We bear same surname. yet I got denial. I received my passport back March 26th. I arranged my documents again and stated that I was running my business with my personal account because my corporate acct got issues. I also attached another invitation letter from my uncle with police stamp. I resubmit in abuja again on the 30th of march, that's 4days after they returned my passport. till today my application its till under assessment. like, today made it 4months with my Passport, my travel date on the application was 25th of June. so like this travel date done pass.. for just South Africa. and I am not a first time traveler. I was in SA 2018, I have been to Dubai 3 times since I came back from SA. Please why will this ppl hold someone passport for that long. na see finish they cause all this rubbish.

They still issue...if it's for tourism or business just go for e visa...it's stress free..And at the port of entry your biometric will be taken.

It's so disheartening. It's almost as if these people are trying to confiscate as many Nigerian passports as possible. Why would they open their Lagos and pH offices when they haven't sorted out the hundreds of applications since early this year. I submitted tourist visa for a family of 5 on the 3rd of April, travel date was mid May. Till today, no response, mails unreplied. Now our passports have almost expired, we had to renew them in the event that the visas are released. Had it not been that we had purchased the flight tickets since before covid era, I would have totally cancelled the plans.
