I think I was 1994,I went with some secondary school friends to Tarkwa bay beach. My friends knew I am ijaw and so they wanted me to impress them with my swimming skills

I got into the water and started swimming, while some stood on the shore hailing and encouraging me to go on,I got carried away by the hailings and started swimming deep away from shore, sudenly I realized how far I have gone and decided to turn back,it was then I realized that I was in a big trouble.

Coming back became an almost impossible task,as I was beginning to get tired and was far from the shore.
Nobody knew what I was going through at this point so they waited patiently for me to get back to land.
At a point I gave up and decided to rest while I was still far from land, but at this point something miraculous happened,my legs hit the floor.till today I don't know what happened, that place was supposed to be very deep and I would have drowned.

I rested for a while, regain strength and swam back to shore. My friends where hailing me for daring to go that far,but I was speechless, because I was wondering about what just happened.

God spared my life that day because He had a plan for me.

Juvenile delinquency...

I bought my new car Honda pure water 2003/4
Decide to travel home to my My in His from Mushin-Lagos.
Took off around 5:45am upon Muslim call to prayer.
Under my Sit was my pet 501 and by the gear lever was a pack of fish to step down.

We continue sharing the 501 with my friend taking alternate swig from the Bottle.

Like 15 minutes to 9a.m the 11th police man stoped us for my pariticulars. I just drove off in anger... What is the problem of this police men self.

I decided to change the CD to a more funky music, that was after gulping another shots..in that process I was asking God how do accident happen

Some 15 Second the thought pass my minded I have finish changing the CD only raise my head and saw Trees running and the bush was just rolling, it was an accident. The car was surmersulting. It landed on its tyres funny enough the music was just blasting. I suddenly panicked when I saw smoke from the engine.i hurridly unbuckle my sit belt open the door and stepped out. in the same process was calling my friend to run out. (Was thinking latter, what would I have done if he had died... God forbid)... Walk out of the car a little scratch.

Got to a hotel where we lodge. Informed the receptionist to get me one ashy.

It was some pains frm hell that woke me up.
I sat down by the bed side and I started crying. From the thought that my body would have been lying cold at the morgue.
Would I have been sleeping with the ashewo?

Where is the ashy self

Juvenile delinquency!

I think I was about 7 years old.
My family and I had travelled to the village for Christmas.
We had two streams in the village, one was small and only people from my village used it, the other was much bigger and had a bridge over it. It was pretty much used by the entire community comprising of 6 villages.

So you could always expect the stream to be crowded which made it more fun for city kids like us. Our parents had banned us from going to that particular stream but even that added to it's allure.

On that fateful day, my cousins and my siblings set off for the stream having lied to our parents that we were going to fetch water from the small stream.

We ran past the small stream excitedly as we made haste to go to the bigger stream.

We were not disappointed as the stream was crowded as usual with all manner of games and rough play going on. Did I mention that the name of the stream was called " bridge"? Lol

Immediately we got to the bridge,we took off our clothes and with just our under pants, jumped into the stream and began to play. Although we played around the shallow area of the stream.

Not more than 10 minutes after,my cousin who was about my age but is slightly disabled in his legs( he had a bad case of polio as a child) started swimming towards the deep end of the stream.
I stopped to watch him curiously because I knew he wasn't a very good swimmer just like me. He swam past the deep part of the stream and stopped right at the middle of the stream which I knew was shallow ( or so I thought).
He then stood up and beckoned on me to join him. Excited I asked him if his feet was reaching the ground? He said yes!

Without thinking I started swimming towards him. Swooosh, swoosh, I swam in breast stroke style, very fast , very noisy and awkward. I did not raise my head nor did I stop until I got to my cousin.

Immediately I got to where he was standing, I held unto him and made to stand up,my legs couldn't find any footing. I immediately panicked and grapped by cousin forcefully. As soon as I did that he lost his footing and both of us started flailing in the deep end of the stream.
You wouldn't have guessed.Apparently, the middle of the stream that I had always felt was a shallow oasis was very deep and had a cut off tree stump not more than 2 feets in diameter. Only one person could stand on the tree stump at a time.

No one had bothered to tell us that. Well it wasn't as if we'd asked any of those kids swimming there like fishes before. We just assumed.
Back to the story, I went down the first time, then mustered enough strength to push myself up, I heaved my head out of the water, arms flailing, panicking and scared.
I went under again. Mustered enough strength again to heave myself up, I tried to look over to the top of the bridge and I could barely make out my siblings and my other cousins frantically gesticulating for other swimmers to save me.
No one did. Infact most of the big boys and girls swimming at the time, felt that I was just joking because it was common for people to pretend as if they were drowning when they swam to the deep end of that stream and most of them had seen me swimming to that spot. So they felt I was a good swimmer.

My people that was how I went under the third time, fourth time.
By the time I was going under the fourth time, I was very weak. I knew I couldn't muster the energy to come up again.

Hmmmmmn. I said to myself so this is how you die! Slowly I started sinking to the bottom of the stream.

Suddenly I felt strong arms around me, and I felt myself being shoved up and forward. The person carried me a few feets until I was in the shallow area and then I could feel the ground.
Out of breath and panting, I started coughing and vomiting water. My eyes were red and swollen whether with tears or water I couldn't tell.

Immediately my siblings beckoned on me to come out of the stream. I did. Everyone gathered around me. My siblings wouldn't stop hugging me.

Almost simultaneously, we immediately looked around for the person who had saved my life. He was no where to be found. We asked everyone. No one knew him. I mean the villagers literally knew everyone in the community and no one could tell who it was that saved me.
It wasn't until I grew older and learnt about angels and that I understood that it was my guardian angel that saved me on that faithful day.
Did you ask about my cousin? Yeah he struggled to swim out from the other end of the stream.
Ps:You would think that I would have a phobia for rivers after that incident huh? Far from it. I determined to properly learn how to swim, how to thread water and how to control my breathing whilst swimming as soon as we got back to Lagos.

Coincidentally I lived in an Island ( Sea School Island) in Apapa Lagos opposite the Tin Can Island as a kid. I taught myself how to swim properly and by the next December holiday, I swam back to that very spot that almost took me and dropped down to the bottom of that stream looked up through the water to the sky and said to myself I have mastered you.

As an adult today, I still have that mentality, Just tell me that I can't do something and I would make sure that I do it.
There have been more instances where God has saved me since then so lemme take time once again to thank my savior Jesus Christ for my life and tell everyone that it is so sweet and amazing to have a close relationship with God. Cheers

After reading through the comments, I can't hold on to my own experience... Mine happened when I was 7yrs old..My uncle's wife gave me a poisoned sweet to lick while I was playing football with my peers. She warned me sternly never to share that sweet with anyone, you know na as a kid I no reason anything at all and definitely not from my Uncle's wife...that was how I licked the sweet innocently that evening , I couldn't get out of bed the next day and I was suppose to go to school. How I managed to survive that was all by his Grace. I couldn't speak nor do anything not until I felt the urge to vomit, that was how I spilled the whole poison out and almost immediately I became alive again. I was able to talk after vomiting and I told my mum all that happened..unfortunately that my Uncle's wife is no more, she died early this year......Death is inevitable as every living thing must die someday but when your time never reach nothing on earth can bring you down...GOD truly exists!!!!!

Driving on Benin highway towards Agbor and suddenly saw an Hilux laden with good coming straight on my path on the inside lane of an expressway, to my right was a truck, no where to run and I was going for an head-on collision. Somehow, miraculously the man shifted a bit into the bush and I managed to moved a bit to my right. I heard the hilux scratched my vehicle and was waiting for the worst, but somehow that was the worst. I escaped with fellow occupants in the car. The closest I have ever been to grave until my next story happened.

I was on my way towards Sapele. This time I wasn't the one driving but in a chartered vehicle. We just passed Benin bypass were going at about 120km/hr when suddenly one idiotic commercial kuteke vehicle dashed across our path. We were heading straight and about to run into him. Our driver took an evasive maneuver, it took us into the median, we were dashing at around 100+km/hr bumpily in the median. I was so scared, my mind was blank. The driver tried to return to the road but overshot the expressway and headed straight into the bush on the other side and was about to run into an iron rod stuck into the ground somewhere in the bush before our vehicle came to a stop. It was a big relive. The foolish man that caused the whole thing and many other were there by the roadside watching us all along with their hands on their heads, everyone of them was expecting we might end up in a fatal accident but that didn't happen. No one was hurt, the car was not damaged and after some heated exchange of banters with the stupid man we were able to continue our journey.
Later in the night, my mind went through everything that happened and kept asking myself what would have happened if the driver had mistakenly applied his brake while the whole event unfolds? What if another vehicle had been on the expressway and run into us while we dashed across? Well those scenario never happened and I am still alive today.

My work takes me regularly out on the expressway and apart from these two worst stories, I have like four to five other close shaves with death and I have learnt in a funny way that only God keeps one alive. I wake up every morning and make sure I commit my day to God before leaving home because I now realize it is only grace that keeps one alive. If only God can open our eyes to spiritual realities around us, we will understand there are many forces working to take us under.

Got caught up during religious crisis in Jos in 2010. There were corpses by the road side and Hausa boys were almost on our car, banging and stoning... Some elders standing by told them to let us drive through, that they'd had enough of these fights.

That was how we drove through zololo junction to the University Main Camp with corpses lying on the ground....
A miracle

I ran my ND program at Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi State in 2011. I lived in an off campus lodge where 85% of the occupants were students. Both male and female, there were disagreements sometimes as usual. One got very serious between a girl and guy, I could hear the pre-fight insults but just stayed in my apartment since people were there asking them to stoo. However, when slaps & blows started flying I decided to intervene. What I didn't know was that the girl had suffered more blows and had run to fetch a weapon, as I rushed to the guy and started reprimanding about the whole episode, madam appeared from the corner running, it was a bit dark at about 6:40 pm or thereabout, I could barely see her or what she had in her hands, I turned around to restrain her... Next thing I knew, I was floored and everyone was screaming, asking if I was ok. On our way to the clinic was when I noticed she'd stabbed me with something on my chest, the scar remains till this day. I was hospitalized for 2 days before I could go home. They refused to show me the weapon when I got back, her bf came to apologize, I didn't tell my parents. Doctors told me I was lucky she didn't hit me a bit lower.

I will never interfere in a fight again. I'm alive to tell the story.
And you didn't get her arrested or teach her a lesson she'd never forget in a hurry.

July 31st 2001, around 7am at PWD bus stop, Ikeja. I was about to cross the rail track, I got absent minded and forgot myself right there on the rail track. A train was coming from Ikeja along inward Oshodi and was seriously hooting it's horns. I could only hear the horn faintly from background because I was far gone in my absent mindedness and of course wasn't even aware of the fact I was about to be crushed by the fast approaching train.

All of a sudden, a very tall and dark complexioned elderly man clad in white native attire with pure white grey hair both on his head and face came from only God knows where, took me by my hand and gently lifted me out of the track and just then the train zoomed past. Then I regained my consciousness. Onlookers gathered around me, some of them were abusing me and one of them asked "why you come jump commot for the railway?" I replied that an elderly man lifted me out and they asked "which elderly man?. I was about to point to him and realised he wasn't anymore. Some of them actually thought I had mental issues.

Since then July 31st became my second birthday.
You're an elect of God, ordained right from the beginning to manifest God in your generation.

In anosecond I saw my life pass before my eyes as an oncoming, out-of-control Camaro crossed into my lane. I did all I could to avoid the impact, while thinking, "Oh, God, this is how I'm gonna die."

But then I didn't. The pulverizing sound of the crash was less frightening that the thought of what we would look like afterward.
The little economy car was totaled. Despite a severe whiplash and bruises, I managed to get out from behind the crooked dash, unbuckle the children in the back seat—crying and shaken but okay—and walk away.

That day, and for weeks after, I grew in gratitude for the preciousness of life amidst harrowing flashbacks and "what if's?"
