Dele Alake should also note that Obasanjo is not on the side of Tinubu. Obasanjo is always antagonizing Yorubas. In December 2010, an old Egba man who belonged to the same society with Obasanjo and my late dad confided in me. That was after the death of Olori Oluwo. The Chief said Obasanjo was interested in replacing their late leader but they will never allowed him for his anti Yoruba stand. The man told me Obasanjo mother was traced to come from IBO land. That was 2010 December. Obasanjo, at his age has no business in London. He is too old for that frivolous journey. If he wanted to see Wike, Obi and Atiku he can invite them to Abeokuta. This is not the first time Wike, Makinde, Ikpeazu will be in Europe together. The last time, they were in Turkey. This time in London. Tinubu travelled a day or two days earlier to Europe (France first & other places) before Wike travelled on both occasions. It was a private personal meeting leaked to the public unlike the persuasion or pleading meeting of Atiku, Obi & Obasanjo who went to London to Seek Wike and plead with him. Tinubu did not go to London to seek or look for Wike or plead with him. Obasanjo as an old man has no business in London. He was probably invited by Atiku & Obi camps to London to scuttle any arrangement between Tinubu and Wike. Tinubu does not have their time. When you see Obasanjo, Atiku and Obi going to meet Wike in London less than 72 hours after Tinubu and Wike were absent at NBA conference, you know they are jittery and intimidated. 2 Likes |

Your Tinubu aids people because he wants to be in continued control of lagos. He has so many skeletons in his cupboard and they help him hide it. You're free, but you're still a slave. Oniranu. |

MacWin155: Stop lying please I’ve not heard anyone come out to praise Obi for his generosity. He’s a Stingy man he’s not liberal. The company’s he has are dominated by ibos. I can’t support Someone who’s not liberal . Obi will end up like Buhari, installing his tribal men whether good or bad . Tinubu is Liberal he has shown he can work with every tribe that’s the kind of person Nigeria needs at this time when we’re divided . Buhari failed not APC . It’s high time politicians stop hiding under Political party for their failures. 1 Like |

Comparing Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Sir Ahmadu Bello with Tinubu is intellectual dishonesty. These two great men built millions of people through education. They built the two great universities in Ife and Zaria to give people chance to be greater than them. They empowered their people with education to think for themselves. They never felt it was their business to perpetually lord it over their people and dictating any directions to them. They trained and trained and trained millions of people through education and skills who would take over from them because the recognize that they were just individuals who would soon disappear like any human. Where is the university that Bola Tinubu built in Lagos? Does anyone know? Bola Tinubu doesn't believe in education and education of the masses. He feels threatened by anyone thinking for himself or herself. Follow his proteges administrations in Lagos and Osun and Ekiti and you would see the same pattern of destroying education so that no one is mentally equipped enough to challenge him/them. Since his vice grip on Lagos and a section of the southwest politics, how many universities has been established by him/them? Even the ones established by the preceding governments were badly managed during the tenure of his party. His legacy in education is there for all to see - negative. His party’s educational policy is to cut down on university education and promote artisanship. The real reason is to reduce intellectual challenges to his rulership. Only his children and those of his lackeys can then be allowed to reason for themselves. People are now being told clearly through astronomical increase in school fees that university education is for the affluent. Awolowo promoted education and established the Yoruba nation as the most (arguably) critical thinkers of the black race. Unfortunately, this brilliant legacy has been destroyed. Listening to socalled intellectuals like Alake you would wonder whether it's from Yoruba mind that such hollow reasoning is coming out. How could a critical mind such as Awolowo’s Yoruba promote an infirm candidate to lead Nigeria and then called a viable alternative a bastard? Is 'ilera' not 'ogun oro' in Yoruba again? Tinubu is essentially a feudal lord. His leadership style is not beneficial to any modern society. A good leadership style should be about the masses and not granting positions to few people he would use and dump later. It not about taxing every item and collecting 10 percent. Many of the the people that the late Sadauna and Awolowo mentored still found value in the training they received and are still following them long after their demise. You can still see staunch Awoist, like Pa Ayo Adebanjo etc. and followers of Sadauna's school till tomorrow. You cannot say that of Tinubu, almost everyone he put in positions have fallen out with him. Those who are left with him haven't been given any SIGNIFICANT position yet - people like Dele Alake who haven't seen more than a commissioner post are the ones still left. In destroying Awolowo’s unparalleled legacy, Tinubu’s people had to even label Afenifere as Afenifebi. Sadauna assisted the late Prime Minister Tafawa Balewa and didn't disturb him in Lagos (Federal Government). He was not jealous of his achievements, he didn't feel insecure by Balewa's visibility. He was contented in Kaduna as a regional head. He didn't feel entitled to own Nigeria. He never called Balewa a bastard. He allowed him to rise to his God ordained position in life. That cannot be said of Tinubu who would immediately destroy anyone whom he feels is outshinning him and trying to take his 'life-long' dream of owning more than Lagos away from him. Even Alake himself will fall out with him as soon as he says or does what is in his own mind and not what Tinubu wants to hear or do or what he wants him to say/do. Have you heard of where Awolowo 'collected' a Senatorial ticket from someone and handed it over to his wife? Did you hear that Ahmadu Bello made any of his children the head of markets in Sokoto or Kaduna? Has anyone ever read of Awolowo or Sadauna inserting their companies' name into the law of their regions for tax collection? What percentage did Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello’s companies charge for tax collection in their regions? Defend your feudal lord in peace and leave Awolowo’s and Saduana's names out of it. 1 Like |

garfield1:Godfather how? Do you understand the meaning of godfather? Are you going to say Buhari is godfather to amaechi or el-rufai for example? Ahmadu Bello and Awolowo were political leaders in a parliamentary system not godfathers. They never laid claim to being godfathers to anyone and were never seen as such. |

Agboriotejoye: Using buhari as a godfather is a bad analogy.did buhari sponsor or handpick amechi and el rufai to any election? Do they owe their rise in politics to buhari? Amechi godfather is odili,el rufai own formerly was atiku.buhari doesnt do godfatherism.balewa was handpicked by ahmadu bello,he owes his political rise to bello.awolowo sponsored and pushed ladoke akintola to be premier and so many others.they dont need to acknowledge that they are godfathers.how do you even reason? Must akume tell you that he is a godfather to Emma jime before you know? |

Re: Dele Alake: Why Some People Are Jealous Of Bola Tinubu by Agboriotejoye(m): 3:27pm On Aug 28, 2022 |
garfield1:It's because you're ignorant of how parliamentary government works that you think Ahmadu Bello and Awolowo acted as godfathers. It's exactly the false analogy Alake is making that I'm trying to correct. Under parliamentary system, each party holds an internal election, comparable to primaries in presidential system, to elect the party leader and other officers of the party. Whoever emerges party leader, if his party wins majority seats in the House has the power and responsibility to form the government. It is the position Ahmadu Bello, Awolowo and Azikiwe held as party leader that gave them the power to put members of their party in government positions that they have control over. It is different from the concept of godfather we have now, where someone sits somewhere and allocates positions to people without having any statutory powers from our laws to do so. Instead, they make use of instruments of coercion, persuasion and cajolement to install their puppets so they can retain control over the affairs of a state or an office they statutorily have no business controlling. I hope you can see the difference. Your claim is like saying Boris Johnson is godfather to Rishi Sunak since he appointed him secretary in his govt. That's false. He was only carrying out his statutory function as party leader. |
