FahBuLous:Your question should rather be: How Do I Create Value with my skill and experience As A Web Developer? Money is a by-product of creating value. You can as well sell your time in addition to creating value for others. |

TastyFriedPussy:We all know you are hiding to perpetrate evil. If you do for passion alone and not money, is it yahoo that is feeding your fetish azz? Keep switching accounts and demotivating any web developer trying to start their journey because you feel they could be your target on Nairaland. Keep trying, oga na-me! |

Ovaltine:The below is an excerpt from the original post when I have a good understanding of coding, how do I make money from it?To me OP is just after what to target to help him start making money and that's not a bad question in any way. Perfection will always come via practice but if it is possible to start making money while gaining perfection then better. |

jansonn:The guy is after a particular Nairalander. He needs to attack anybody matching the profile of his target that's why he targets every one and has many user accounts. Leave him. |

RepoMan007:I didn't suggest he should not earn. The goal should be to solve problems and create value. Not to make money. It's bad that this money thing is seeping into programming.. Programmers don't think 'about' money. We think about responsibilities, optimization and growth. The rest flows in. There is a growing calibre of new devs collecting projects and upfront payment, then disappearing, or doing very poor work since they are only after money. If you care for the OP, let him gain from my little piece of advice. It starts with him answering the question I put there. It's completely harmless. |

FahBuLous:Why are you wasting you strength insulting me. I’m a full time web developer. I didn’t insult you but it’s funny . How can you just be starting something and you are asking how to make money. If you hear requirements to make money from web development you will get discouraged. You will need at least html, css, php and JavaScript. This will be used for just simple websites. And trust me JavaScript is a lot on its own. So yeah to make money you would either focus on websites, software or consoles. As a Nigerian the easiest way is to design websites and and write scripts. Just leave money first and learn. I don’t think their is any good web developer out there that’s totally broke. Money will come believe |

Making money via Web Dev, this is based on my observation. 1. Fulltime Job - Getting paid monthly from employer 100% Guarantee 2. Side-gigs: Upworks/LinkedIn and contractual jobs 3. Platform consulting: Being a Partner to a platform and consulting for their customers. e.g Shopify/Moodle 4. Saas - Building products and collecting monthly 5. Commission/sales: Selling a temaplte/plugin in a market like placeor Shopify commissions from Apps/Theme 6. Startup - Own a Startup or business 7. Tech Writing: Writing articles to promote tech products 8. Content Creator I have listed everything, not to sound pessimistic, I don't think everyone might achieve this, because of the attitude, and unseriousness. I've seen a moniker learning how to code for months and just insulting others. The serious ones will ignore the comments and move on. But this is how you make money online, and also these things are hard, it involves constant reading, and constant comprehension. airsaylongcome , DrLevi and tensazangetsu20 have all mentioned it, you have to code and practice daily, there is no shortcut. Tech is not as rosy as people paint it, it's brutal, you don't meet up and you're sacked. A word is enough for the wise. because in this programming section, if indeed there are smart devs here, it shouldn't be hard to discuss the OP's topic without insults. |

@qtguru very well summarized. A few pointers I'd like to share are: Get a Domiciliary account right away. Get USD, GBP and EUR accounts. You don't have to put money in them but get them down. When you start earning you don't want to start running around looking for reference. Be willing to start small. Too many people have "big" eyes and want to start earning $50/hr with absolutely NO Experience. You go wound. Starting small also means looking at so-called small roles, particularly Tech support. You'd be surprised the number of Tech support roles that start at a decent amount. In the US for example, you can get an Independent Contractor role starting at $15/hr at 8 hours daily. That's at least 160hrs per month or $2,400 in monetary terms. Network. Network. Network. I'm not a fan of LinkedIn but you can always leverage networks there. Also grow your knowledge. Join forums related to your role or field. Reading alone will give you exposure. I leverage a lot on reddit and even got my first ever job from there. Check the Career pages of businesses you are interested. A lot of businesses are moving to remote and you'd be surprised at what you'd find there. I recently checked the career page of an Inventory management software company that I had used in 2014. The company were willing to hire me given my prior experience in Supply Chain and IT background. I recommended a former colleague (because the timezone was clashing with my current job). That colleague after getting the job, now feels like he owes me. Told him straight up he doesn't. If I didn't have a good opinion of him I would not have thought of him. Annd finally, experiment, experiment, experiment. Get your hands dirty. One of the key points in my favor when I got my first remote role was that I had experience with some of their work tools. Truth be told, I barely knew how to use the tools. But I had come across them during my several open source experiments and they were impressed that I had even taken time to figure out how to install and use the tools. I am a "lazy IT person" and will never look at building a solution if an open source solution exists. My experimenting with open source software has opened quite a few doors for me. If you can't code but have an interest in how software can be used in enterprise situations, get your hands dirty researching. I am attaching an image I got from reddit that identifies major Enterprise software and their open source alternatives. Wish everyone luck

I can see that the only reason you decided to learn programming is because of money or maybe all the sweet things you've been reading online and not because you're passionate about programming.. So I'm sorry to tell you that you're already a failure from the get go and mark my words, you'll end up selling that your laptop for something else when the wrath of JS begins to hit you hard..
