The story of the Tower of Babel explains the origins of the multiplicity of languages. God was concerned that humans had blasphemed by building the tower to avoid a second flood so God brought into existence multiple languages. Thus, humans were divided into linguistic groups, unable to understand one another.
Now the one billion dollar question is, how is speaking in diverse language synonymous to discriminatory behavior called tribalism...
In ur post, u said tinubu blasphemed, How did tinubu blasphemed for referring to a text which state the origin of multiplicity of languages which was caused as a result of blasphemous act of mankind..

First, "Speaking in Tongues" has no link to the Tower of Babel. I challenge you to show me the origin of "Speaking in Tongues" that has anything to do with Babel.

Second, God punished the people by causing confusion and disunity amongst them. That's why it's 'Babel' - 'confusion'. The aim was to create confusion and disunity so they can't agree on anything as one. That's how tribalism came to be.

Now these vices are what we're facing in Nigeria currently. Saying we inherited "Babel", which is not what he said anyway, would mean we inherited our disunity from the Bible and that's blasphemous. "The Tower of Babel" is not a good symbol to "inherit"

And the context here is biblical and there are only two references you can make: Speaking in Tongues of act and the Tower of Babel of Genesis. Both have been explained in my post. And the collocation that goes with Speaking in Tongues.

No one is talking about mother tongue or outside-the-Bible tongue here and we all know that "tongue" also means "language"

Confusion of Tongues at Babel is not Speaking in Tongues. Reason I have been hammering on COLLOCATION AND CONTEXT.

But if you still insist they're same, biblically, then show me any source that traces the phrase as far back as the Tower of Babel incident.

Bible is a holy book that contains the word of God, no be story book wey u dey trace new testament phrase go old testament, it is spirited, it requires the spirit of God to do the interpretation..

"Speaking in Tongues" in biblical context means "Gift of Tongues". That's the meaning. And if you trace its origin, it'll lead you to the New Testament. That is that. Whether you rant from now till eternity won't change that fact.

"Confusion of Tongues" for Babel. "Speaking in Tongues" for gift of Tongues.

You should do research. Go to any Christian gathering and mention "Speak in tongues". I bet you, no one would think of the Tower of Babel. That's context. That’s collocation.

What happened to the followers of Christ that were gifted by the Holy Spirit to speak in languages they didn't know is called "Speaking in Tongues'. Both are NOT the same. You can research both terms and prove me wrong.

Collocation and contexts are linguistic/grammatical terms. Translation doesn't mean abuse. Just take your L and move on as it's obvious you have nothing to say or disprove. You haven't even provided any logical refutation.
