Hi Fellow Nairalanders!

I am typing this piece with Disappointment, I least expected this.

So, I finished My Youth Service with Joy and gladness, and was back home till I get a good paying job, since I studied Metalogy/Civil Enginnering in the University..

As a Sure guy with Parly (Certificate) cheesy
I was very much confident of getting a nice paying job, So I started my Journey as a Job Seeker..

1st year, 2nd year, went by, and still nothing, So i decided to digress into something else for the meantime, everyone knows how Nigeria is .

I decided to pop into Teaching, atleast 'head still fresh'
I got this job, in a Primary school, the Headmistress and I agreed on a 30,000 monthly salary... I was happy though .

I resumed work, truth be told it was fun, but Sour at last..
I never knew this Madam was in for a trick..

Things were going well oo!
Firstly, Late to work a day - 5,000 deducted
Not being audible enough in the classroom - 3,000 deduction
Pupils not able to grab the day's work - 2,000 deducted
Failure to mark pupils note/ asessment/ assignment - 5,000 deduction
Few pupils failing Test, Oral questions and Examination - 5,000 deduction....

I was called for my salary, then Mrs. Headmistress brought out my file of report and defects , i was shocked when she tabled a sum of 15,000 naira as my salary for the month and Said "Welcome" I couldn't Fanthom where I was but i gathered myself and said "Thank you ma"

According to my fellow staff, this was the hidden principle in The School, people's salaries were deducted to nothing ...

I went home and slept throughout the week ..

Now Do you think I continue in this Mess or Venture into frying of akara and become self employed..

what are your thoughts, help a brother!!

Akara and akamu are money spinners.

Just find a place with human traffic.

With time you will ask yourself, why you didn't start earlier.

After some years you would have made enough to pursue a bigger dream.

Teaching will waste your time and make you question your sanity, self esteem and worth.

That woman scammer / employer will pauperize you.

No but you can learn online.

Go through Nairaland programming section and read through.

Then research and see what you want to do.

Friday and Sunday both, left NYSC camp hoping to get a good paying job.

Sunday, got a good paying job, while Friday was still on the street.

One day, an opportunity came calling for Friday, he had the option to go help a friend with an electrical job in Owerri (wiring a house) or going to work for an engineering firm. He called on his buddy Sunday for advice, told him to go for the engineering job but Friday took the other options to wire the house in Owerri.

After the job, he was paid, days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months and months turned to years, Friday didn't get another job. One fateful day, there was an electrical problem in his location, he fixed it and started getting electrical jobs.

Today, Friday owns his own house, his electrical and solar business in Abuja while Sunday was laid off in the company and still job hunting.

Moral of the story:
Sometimes it feels like you aren't doing enough or others are doing more than you and have left you behind leading to being confused and doubting our abilities, but then it is what it is. We all have different paths to take, just put all your best in what you do and you'll find your path eventually.

M. Scott Peck once said "The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.” You know what am talking about. Food business is a lucrative business. A report has it that =N2.4bn has been spent from January - July 2022 on food. Where others see problems, see opportunities.

Here are the six questions you should ask yourself when establishing KPIs for the business.

1. What impacts the business?
Identify the high-level metrics that grow the business.

2. What are we trying to achieve?
Help your business partners create goals or Key performance indicators (KPIs) to track how they’re doing against those goals.

3. How can we track it?
Establish short-term and long-term targets for the KPIs.
-The long-term will help you achieve your business goals.
-The short-term will help you check in to make sure you’re on track.

4. How will we get there?
Define the operational activities that you’re going to do or attempt to achieve those goals.

5. What do we need to invest?
Make sure that you’re setting yourself up for success by allocating the appropriate amount of money to the activities that you believe you need to do to achieve the goals.

6. How’s it going?
Set up regular check-ins to make sure you’re doing the activities that you planned and measure the performance against those short and long-term KPIs.

What did I miss?

One day, your efforts will hit a different level of result and you'll start having a different kind of fear; the fear of not finishing well, that is if you care anyway.
I mean if after all these hustling and bustling, putting your mental health in probe, all the sleepless nights and restless days, your success is short lived, Logically speaking it's better to not get started at all than to end on the way.

In the past 11 months, most of the ponzi schemes in Nigeria disguising as business empires were busted leaving the road for genuine ones to strive.
Let's just give them the accolades for thinking about setting up these broad daylight robbery outlets, even if it's by mistake.

Prior to meeting their waterloo, they had the praises of people by flaunting their flamboyant lifestyle, steady monetary giveaways, living extra lavishly etc.

One, who branded the red color made some huge transfer of cash to a young lady for just saying "she didn't understand what he was saying".
That was none of my business, till I went through the transfer receipt and found that the money was paid through the company's account.
Isn't this account supposed to be managed by a professional officer?
I mean that's the least you could do if people should trust their millions in your hands in the name of investments.
Till the day he was allegedly arrested, all personal financial activities he displayed online were with the company's account. That's how you know a man who has intentionally planned to fail. This was peculiar to every single one of them that went down.

NB: I am not trying to celebrate someone's downfall but here's the things you can learn from their own stories.

If you're planning to have a lasting business enterprise, then you should be prepared to walk the path without cutting corners.
A business empire is built not hexed. Most of us have started off on a means we know is wrong but because you know we'll all arrive at the same point, it doesn't matter to you.
You can manufacture your business by magic but you can never manipulate sustainability and if you aren't planning for it, you better write an application letter today and find an office to submit it to.
When you finally succeed, I want you to know that it is not a point to just enjoy yourself, catch a cruise and waste your resources. After planting season, harvest is anticipated.
But have you noticed that after harvest, some portions are left for the next planting season. No good farmer eats or sells all his harvest. That's the way it is with business.

Invest in your management, duplicate your success for as much as possible, expand your brand if you have to, develop new ways to operate, have a spiritual backup, update with the global trends but do not lose your recipe in the process.

Always remember that immediately the food finishes, the status of a plate changes to dirty. This only should explain what it means to shine temporarily to you.

No, I didn't, I felt it wasnt of necessity then
Me that has tech skill how much I've I gotten from it. I produce music, skilled in web design, like programming language as in JavaScript, php, MySQL and major frameworks yet all to no avail. I actually studied computer networks and security for 2 years in NIIT and since I couldn't get my CCNA I became stranded. I later went into teaching in a private school. The way I was treated made me to hate the job, and no matter how much I'm offered to teach I won't.

I also would have started my own computer shop/ sound studio, but no single capital for that. I tried to get online job or make money online. Even own run three blogs I professionally design but nothing. It is now AdSense are approving my blog for monitization, blog I created since 2018, my first blog.

I later moved from teaching into working in a bakery. Though the job was hard and the pay was little, yet I didn't lack food. And I came to realize that there is money in food processing or manufacturing. I learnt how to make pastries like jam pie and bread, also madiga. Now I'm gathering money not by bit to go into small scale bakery business. I would be targeting stores around my place. Since there's enough space in our house which my father built and there's no tenant,I won't be paying any rent from the business.

So, go into food production business. Akara and potatoes frying is okay. Then you can think of what next. This country is cursed with wicked school owner and employers.
