My Birth Story
I didn't know I was pregnant until the pregnancy was 3months and it was mixed feelings for me because my 2nd child was just 1yr 6months, we just relocated to a new state with my hubby not very much around and without help plus I had plans of focusing on career. I was less than a year on my job and felt the pregnancy would halt a lot of plans.
I went for my first scan at 5months and while doing the scan the sonographer started asking me what symptoms I have had seen I got pregnant and if I have been seeing blood. Told her the journey has been symptomless and I have not had any bleeding episode. Got the scan report and it said there was 'no head seen and advised to do an evacuation if the pregnancy doesn't abort itself after 2weeks'. I was devastated and sad how that will happen after I have grown to love the baby in my womb. I cried and started asking for forgiveness from God for not receiving the gift with joy at first. Hubby encouraged me and we afterward decided to keep trusting God for a miracle and go for another scan in another diagnostic centre.

We went to another centre when the pregnancy was 6months and no abnormality was found. We were delighted and grateful and then decided to register for antenatal at a state hospital in our base. Did all the necessary tests and on my 3rd antenatal visit while I was waiting to see the doctor I noticed that my blood test result started that I was O negative instead of A positive. I had to call the lab technician's attention to it, the senior technician had to repeat the test and it was discovered that the previous result was a wrong one.

These experiences fuelled our decision to travel down to give birth at the hospital where I had the last two CS procedures in our previous location. At my first meeting with the consultant (which was around 34weeks) I was booked to come for CS by the 37th week, the doctor instructed that I come in on Tuesday after which I will be put on admission on Wednesday against the procedure on thursday.

By Monday, 18th of July I started having cold feet about having the CS that thursday as my baby will just be 37weeks that day but then arrangements have been made for the person that will stay with the kids and she was already around so I had to brace up and go ahead with the existing plan though with a lot of fear and what ifs.

I travelled down on Wednesday, got admitted and on thursday 21st July, 2022, I was wheeled to the theatre where I was given the spinal anesthesia so I was basically awake though numb from my waist down to my legs and engaging in active discussion with my doctor throughout the session.

To the glory of God, our baby was brought out after some time and I was asked to identify her after which she was taken away. The surgeon used the dissolvable stitches for me so I wouldn't have to go back to another hospital for the removal when we get back to our base as we planned travelling back immediately we were discharged.
.
I was wheeled back to the maternity room and na there the discomfort start. I was numb from my waist downward that I couldn't feel my legs but I was experiencing serious pain around the incision site, my baby girl was brought to me and at that point I was filled with joy and gratitude to God for the testimony and for taking my fears away.
We were discharged on the 4th day and we travelled back to base that same day. The big sisters were excited and they both carried the new baby. We are 6weeks now and to the glory of God we are all doing great.

B.S! B.S!
Wow, so it's finally my turn to share a birth story? God is good o.
***clears throat**, *blows air into the microphone*
I got married to the love of my life on 10th April, 2021 although my husband was doing as if he's not interested in babies but me i was abeg. So I guess i was the only one TTCing and since na only me know my fertile window i always journey down to visit hubby with the hope of getting pregnant. I started the TTC journey in June, 2021, kept trying every month until November last year when my mind don commot for the whole thing. I blamed my inability to conceive on the fact that i was living far apart from hubby because of work. So I decided to stop trying till maybe after December, 2021 when i intended resigning from my place of work to re-unite with my husband and then start trying again. But to the glory of God I did not see my Dec period o. I lost it in November but realized it in the first week of Dec. that was how my preggy journey began...
*Sips a cup of juice**
*FIRST TRIMESTER* First trimester got me wondering if I was actually pregnant because I waited earnestly for all the signs and symptoms and morning sickness. But I was disappointed, none showed. No spitting, no vomiting, no too much sleep, no headaches, no sickness, nothing at all except for excessive hunger. I wasn't the eating type before conception but I tripled my food intake and I just couldn't endure hunger for one minute. I eat before leaving the house, I carry plenty food to work and I'll eat dinner twice before sleeping. It was that terrible. I had a threatened miscarriage at 12weeks when I was almost done with the first trimester. To God be the glory my baby chose to stay with me and I decided to register for antenatal immediately.
*SECOND TRIMESTER* This was supposed to be the almighty honeymoon stage but trust me I did not see any honey in the moon as excessive hunger dealt with me continuously. It was very smooth except for the hunger and the weakness that comes with the hunger.
*THIRD TRIMESTER* This stage sincerely for me was a mixture of excitement and fear as I didn't know what to expect but I was hopeful and diligent in obeying the dos and don't of pregnancy. Like taking of routine drugs, consumption of fruits and vegetables etc... Let me also add that the third trimester stage brought some changes in my life like promotion at work place, new and better job for hubby etc. I finally travelled in the last week of July to go meet my husband and to prepare to welcome our baby.
I actually thought my baby would come at 38weeks. (Whatever gave me the assurance) but he didn't. 38wks + to 40wks+ was the hardest time to wait, I was disappointed, angry and anxious coupled with incessant calls from friends and family asking "you don born". Mtcheeew. So annoying

*Fast forward to the delivery*
40wks+5days contraction became more frequent, so I decided to call the hospital to complain. I was asked to come and be checked. I happily dressed up and was hoping I would call hubby from the hospital to bring bag but I was disappointed, they said I was having a false labor. I angrily went home. But the contractions didn't stop. It kept increasing and became more intensed. I sha prepared myself incase of emergency. Hubby got home from work that evening, I told him we might be going to the hospital that night. We already made arrangements with a driver that will carry us to the hospital. The contractions grew stronger and stronger by the minutes and by 2am we left for the hospital. As we got to the hospital, na so one nurse wey no get fear of God wan frustrate us. She no even pity my condition she was busy checking the things I brought and comparing them with the hospital list. "This tissue is small, this cotton wool is not large bla bla bla" after all the blabbing hubby gave her some money she then calm down and I was admitted. I was checked, omo I could swear that I was at least 9cm dilated but noo they said I was only 4cm and I was like "whaaaaaaaaat?"
I was given hot glucose water to be sipping and was told to stand and lean at the pillar at every contraction. I kept awake till 6am. I begged them to check me again, they did and it was just 7cm haaa nawa o. I guess I didn't have a fast labor. The contractions were back to back and didn't stop till 4pm when I started shouting that I wanted to poo lol. All of a sudden I felt my water broke. It poured out once with speed and then my mum in law who later joined me in the hospital rushed and called the nurses and I was hurried into the labor room. They checked and said I was fully dilated and I should let them know whenever it feels like I want to poo. They fixed the drip and other things needed for the project. Lol. I started shouting again "I wantu poo o" the woman asked me to go ahead and poo. I pushed, nothing came out. She said if I want to poo I should hold my ankle and look at my navel (belly button) and then poo. I obeyed. The next push my baby was out crying his lungs out. Sincerely I didn't believe it because I thought we were just starting the labor process so I was expecting to hear "the head is out, push harder etc" but surprisingly two unserious pushes brought out my baby with a little tear. The stitching of that tear happened to be the biggest pain I've ever felt all my life. Afterwards I stood up and was escorted by nurses who were singing my praise and carrying my baby. We went back to the ward, they laid baby beside me, I didn't bother looking at my baby's face. I only laid down on my bed and cried. After much consolation from MIL I then remembered to look at my baby's face and behold the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. He has a very deep dimple like his dad. What more can I say?
To God be the glory. Great things he has done.
Indeed we went, we saw and we have conquered. We are 1 week old today.
Thank you beautiful Mamas and Papas for the show of love and concern during those days that seemed like months. I'm really grateful.
Throwing baby dusts to all TTC mums and swift delivery to all the waddling mamas. The God wey do am for me, go do am for you too.
Thank you everyone.
**Signing out of August, 2022. We'll meet again in 2024. Lol.

Sassy256:
My BS!
Hmm, when I say this child is a testimony, believe me..
This is my third baby, I have a boy and girl 7yrs & 6yrs respectively and the gap between them and this child is neither accidental nor planned! Life happened.
I started planning for 3rd missionary journey when my daughter was less than 2 years old, it took 4 good years complete (Dec, 2017 till Dec, 2021) to find out I was pregnant. If you check my earliest post on this moniker, it was my testimony on TTC thread.
This child was conceived when I had almost given up and decided to face other things and a lot of things just fell in place at the same time.
First trimester was war, I was sick everyday, spitting couldn't eat anything but peppersoup (with uda o, if I don't add uda it won't taste well, so I added in moderation) and Nescafé 3 in 1coffee.
Second trimester was so much better but unfortunately my spitting did not stop but at least I slayed small and libido was a bit high, chai!
Third trimester, tiredness, heaviness everything but I still tried to look good and had small libido until around 35weeks when if I see d..k sef I feel like slapping oga.
From 36 weeks, it became a battle just to stand up, I hated being pregnant at this point o (God forgive me), I appreciated the gift, but everything about being pregnant was just not going well with me again from that time.
My midwife checked me at my 38 +4 appt, after asking some questions, I told her my baby was a bit slow as his movements had reduced a bit, hmm oyibo no dey take chances o, in no time I was at maternity assessment unit, next thing doc said you will be induced.
Go to Delivery suite tomorrow 9am.
9am tuesday I was there.
Pessary was started around 11am, nothing happened. 2nd pessary inserted by 5pm and by 11pm it had worked small so they broke my water and I started contracting.
I had already signed birth plan, and pain relief before this time and I requested for epidural, because the pain I felt in the other two pregnancies scarred me for life. They said the anesthesiologist was in theater and gave me gas to start with.
The gas wasn't helping, soon the epidural guy came, set up the stuff, put their needles etc in my back and told me after 30mins i won't feel anymore pain! E no work!
Me and hubby were discouraged, labour wasn't progressing and they wanted to give me syntocin drip. I told hubby I won't take that drip without epidural, I can't go through that pain of that level of induction again.
As God will have it, that anaesthesiologist went home and another one came, this time a young lady, immediately I saw her my spirit calmed down, I was willing to try again and this time it worked.
You need to see me cruising hot drip without an ounce of pain, I was seeing contractions on the monitor but no pain, I even slept off till I was 9cm dilated.
9cm dilated, baby was still high up, not coming down not getting to 10cm.
They said they will try for me to push, baby refused to come down and his heart rate was going down with every contraction but coming back up again after the contraction, everything was clear on the monitor and they were worried why it was happening.
Doc came and gave us 2 options.
1, assisted delivery with forceps and/ or suction cups
2, CS
We gave consent for CS cos even the forceps delivery many times damage babies shoulder and still ends in CS. Turns out cord was wrapped twice around his neck, that's why he couldn't descend and using forceps to pull him out would have been disastrous but Mercy said No!
My baby was brought out crying loud like town crier grin weighing 3.41kg, healthy with plenty hair. 17th August, my favourite niece's birthday mate too kiss
Indeed, God has done me well, and I am grateful.

Amazing God. Thank God for his leading. Congratulations Cappo

B.S
This is the LORD'S doing and it is marvellous in my sight. I want to say a fat Thank YOU to GOD and this beautiful platform with experienced and ever ready Mums for Guidance, Love, Attention and Support...

I got married in May 2021 and the journey was more than smooth cos I got pregnant the next month without knowing. Poor me! I travelled down to another state for a wedding.. When we got back home we noticed some pregnancy symptoms and confirmed it but along the line in August I noticed blood fiam left for the hospital and was advised to abort it cos the sac was not there. Tor! I was sad but did anyways and that was how the journey to getting pregnant again began. I would always watch out to the following months and feel sad when RED shows up so I was always busy googling various foods, anything to boost ovulation. Along the line, I visited a Doc. was advised to use one ovulation drug like that I have forgotten the name. The first cycle didn't work then I googled the drug and the side effect put me off I had to stop it and tried Okra water along with faith and prayers unto GOD.

As God would have it by Dec, God made a way and I smiled again.. Fast forward to delivery. I was admitted on Sat and my baby girl was out on Mon at 39wks but the surgeons noticed that my pulse rate was dropping anyways the devil came too late and I was placed on oxygen for good 3days but I could move around, talk, carry my baby and do other things but that something sha dey my nose. I was released on Sunday evening after proper monitoring. Abeg, expect me in the next 4 yrs as womanhood no easy. I have been finding it difficult to sleep bayii and my Baby J. is ever ready to suck. Stomach still big a little. Heartburn and itchiness that dealth with me during pregnancy all gone.. To sleep is wahala as all my body aches. But in all... I am grateful I smiled again... God bless all mums looking up unto him and be with all waddling mamas... You shall all come out with your Joys by HIS grace...

Thanks to all the Mamas once again... I Love you all.

Glory to God Almighty I came out Victorious.

Hi Cappo, the tetanus shot is given to pregnant women to protect the baby against tetanus. Tetanus can affect babies due to infection during childbirth and it can cause death. I haven't taken my own injection. I'll ask the doctor during my next visit. I started the injection in my last pregnancy, but I didn't complete it.

Thank you.

I haven't felt real kicks o, na just tiny movement sha..

BS!!!!

I’m grateful to God for an opportunity like this. Honestly my heart is filled with great joy!

After a still birth I experienced at full term last year, I just wanted to get pregnant immediately again. It was such a trying time as I got pregnant immediately after wedding and had already imagined and planned how I was gonna celebrate our one year anniversary with my 9months after baby but then again, it is what it is!

Amidst the devastation, hubby and I started trying again as soon as bleeding stopped. Haaaa! I did preggy test ooo! Omo the anxiety and anxiousness was just too much! I was just running frm lab to lab every month should my period delay for 2days only and at the same time, urine strip hear whine for my hand! I prayed that God should console me and comfort me. Told him to make me smile again, told him I wanted double or triple this time…. I tested positive two months after which left me in confusion that I wished I never did the test so early. I was just 6days post ovulation then. Was seriously down with malaria and so I went to the hospital and doc said I should go test for widal, malaria and pt. Happened PT and malaria came out positive and doc prescribed drugs to take for the malaria. I asked this doc if it was safe to take the prescription having just been confirmed pregnant and he said yes. I then proceeded to the pharmacy unit of the hospital to buy the drugs, at the counseling unit of the pharmacy, I asked the pharmacist if it was safe to take the prescription as I just tested pregnant and she said yes sebi it’s doc that prescribed it…. That was how I returned home that day and started treatment oooo only to bleed few days after and it flowed and lasted like normal period. I rushed to two diff labs on the first day I saw blood and both reported negative. The first lab said the result they saw isn’t a strong positive that it picked oo but then again it started declining… I sha no understand them abeg! That period was yet another sober moment for hubby and I. He requested I take him to the doctor but then I wasn’t ready to make troubles with a Gen hospital staff. We consoled ourselves in God, made up my mind never to try any treatment or medics again no matter what reason. Till date even paracetamol, I don’t take anyhow.

After that experience, i got tired of tracking ovulation, told myself I was just gonna relax and take my mind off it and I wasn’t going to waste money from lab to lab running pt again neither was I going to do urine test. As God would have it, I missed my period in Dec accompanied by feverish symptoms again! I took my time, wasn’t anxious to run to d lab to confirm or even check at home. I managed the pain, prayed, used my anointing oil and mantle. The pain lingered on that hubby had to say let’s just go to the hospital. Told him I won’t o… Naso I cry that fateful afternoon, prayed to God to heal me and not let any medication I take cause any harm then I took two paracetamol, sighted a urine strip inside the drawer I took d drug from and my mind said do this test just to be sure and I tested positive. Became so emotional that day, I prayed, cried, made declarations and shared the news with hubby that it’s confirmed.

Fast forward to first trimester, this sharp pain below my belly to my back on the right side started ooo, I’ve forgotten the name someone attributed to it on this thread. Ommoo! There was a fateful night it started that I couldn’t sleep. Hubby started praying, got my mantle and laid it there and that was when I had a peaceful sleep and never experienced it again. Rushed to the hospital the morning after to lodge a complaint, a scan was recommended and report said all was well that it could be ligament pain. Registered for antenatal few days after. Took my routine drugs religiously and started noticing my cute bumps towards the end of first trimester.

2nd trimester was fine all through, I ensured I never missed any of my antenatal appointments, didn’t stress much, ate well, trekked lil distances, prayed and made positive declarations every day! Unlike my first pregnancy, at this stage I couldn’t stand the smell of creams and perfs. Avoided them like a plague and so did hubby! God bless every responsible husband out there o.

Third trimester came with lots of worries and concerns as I already discussed with my doc that I don’t think my body is designed to fall into labor naturally as that was what I was waiting for during my first pregnancy and avoided getting induced until term and just on the day I was to now go for the induction, scan said they couldn’t detect FHR again…. So I was praying labor shows from 36/37weeks and if not, I’ll request to be induced at 38weeks. Dr said fine.

38weeks came and I requested to be induced, was placed on admission for observation, fetal kick count and I did a scan which confirmed all was well but Baby’s biophysical profile result ain’t satisfactory so dr said I should go home and return at 39weeks except I fall into labor and if not, he’ll recommend a CS. Told him CS how na… I was induced to push a dead baby, how much more a live one…. He laughed and said no more harm could be done then but no one takes risk of inducing a live baby just anyhow…. Returned at 39weeks appointment and a scan was recommended again,,, this time report said baby is in transverse lie and weight was 3.9. As at 38weeks scan, it was 3.6… that was how Dr said VGB was a no no as there’s no way I can be induced to push a transverse baby…. Was like how come but baby has always been head down since I registered antenatal and at all previous scan visits. He told hubby CS was the best option as he won’t advice I wait till 40weeks with that Baby’s weight hoping baby might turn…. I cried ehn!!! That was how I resigned to fate and got booked. Surgery was performed successfully and my baby girl came out looking so beautiful but to my surprise weighed 3kg. In all things, I give glory to God that I’m smiling again and instead of sorry, it’s a congratulations galore for me and my household. I’m recuperating fast as well and my Princess has been feeding well on breast milk.

I wish all waddling mamas a safe healthy delivery and sincerely pray that God wipes away all tears from the eyes of all GTC mommas.

Sorry for the long read. Make una epp me manage this one.

Mummies My nipples are hurting big time and I still have to breastfeed.
Is there anything I can use to relieve this pain?

I've often shared these easy tips on my IG page at Nanasbabyessentials

Do this and get relief in 24h.

Get a Washable breastpad, wet it but not soaking wet, just damp and place it in the fridge or freezer ( a pack usually comes with 6pc in it)
Place the cold pad on your nipples when you're not breastfeeding. After breastfeeding get original ori and rub over the breast.

If you own a pump, pump enough to feed baby for about 24h, it may hurt but it'll help you heal better. Please pump intermittently.
Once you're sure you have enough stash, go ahead and use the ori and the frozen pads for the whole day.

Works like magic!

I am so sorry this is coming late due to some minor issues I had at the hospital... My baby girl made her way to this Earth on August 29th via ELCS weighing 3.2kg. Cappo na so I take port to August at 39weeks though I tried waiting till Sept. My B.S may take time to be submitted but surely I will do the needful...
Congratulations, teammate. God will watch over the child and your family at large.
