The thieves were there before he came, he drives into the gas station in other to get grocery. Normally this will take time, enough for the thieves to operate. The thieves are small timers just wanting to get small stuffs from his car etc.

Case scenario II:

Maybe he was being tailed because he got huge cash ( from business, possibly drugs) on him from a person who sold him out. Maybe the thieves were trying to retrieve this! Hence the reason he ran after them! No one will be stupid enough to pursue thieves wielding assorted weapons.

Conclusion:

It is possible that case scenario two happened. Because someone can only put eyes on his car if there is something valuable in it. Thanks

This is really sad.

Something of this nature actually happened to me just three nights ago.

Some burglars cut my living room net, believing I was in the bedroom sleeping.

Fortunately, I was in the living and very much awake.

All I did was quietly position at a safe place, and made a slight, uncomfortable noise and they fled.

When I narrated the incident to a close friend, he was like, if he were the one, he'd come out with a cutlass and challenge them.
