You are talking about online bank. First of all, how many customers do those online banks have.

Secondly so you know also that so failed transaction using some of these POS of online banks takes time to come back too.

Thirdly I hope you know too that some of these online banks have their system attached to the traditional banking services. The traditional banks provide the platform in which they operate.

I still work in the banks presently, we interface with all these online banks and a very big yes, transaction hangs in theirs too and it takes time to resolve.
Some are fully independent with millions of account holders, typical example are Carbon, Opay, etc.

I can categorically tell you that they resolve issue faster than traditional banks.

This is very sad and it is a consequence of the lawlessness that reigns supreme in Nigeria. Of course, there must be some form of collaboration between these bank staff and criminals, if they can share (or sell) our contact information with 3rd parties without our consent, what stops them from taking it further - most of them even managers in branches in our cities are poorly remunerated despite banks consistently reporting huge profits year after year. My theory is when those who know how to manipulate the system need money (to travel abroad, etc.) they will fraudulently ‘attack’ a number of accounts and steal varying amounts of money. I need someone to explain to me how my money is withdrawn via POS without my knowledge and the bank will say they cannot provide information about the POS because they do not have details of who/where it is being used. How do you give POS machines to people without proper verification? Online transactions are another matter…so many many points to touch on around their inappropriate ways.

CBN and regulatory agencies remain as useless as always - they can and should do more, if banking is the most regulated sector in Nigeria as is often said, then poor Nigerians should not be losing their hard-earned money every second.

Since April 1st, 2022. GTB has failed to refund my 20k in a failed POS dispense transaction.

I have called them, tweeted, emailed them, physically visited the branch severally but they just won't refund my money. How do one get back at them?
Tag CBN in a mail , complaining about your 20k, they will respond, they are afraid of CBN query.

That's Nigeria for you, Bank staff often commit these unholy acts.
How can someone disclose her card details over the Phone? How can someone receive a message Clearly stating do not disclose this code to anyone not even a bank staff and yet you foolishly disclose your details and then claim it is bank staff....ppl should take responsibility.

I use Zenith and I can attest to it. Some persons are just cooperate criminals, but then again, this behavior is across all Nigerian sectors.

The basis of all this is that banks are highly under staffed and I blame CBN for all this. This is because they are supposed to regulate the welfare of banks staff and also. checkmate their workload.

My experience in banking, I have noticed that banks will rather prefer frauds to take place than for them to employ more staff to mitigate it. They did prefer for customers issue to go unsettled or delayed than for them to employ hands that will make the process faster.

Most banks have few hands attending to customers complaint resolution.

A lot of POS/ATM transaction that failed, customers hardly get refunds. And some that do have to go through the stress of going to the bank over and over again.

Now imagine how much yearly that customers forfeit to bank.

Most bank staff are overstretched in their work place. The bank management knows and the HR knows too.

Then the bulk of the staff in branches are mostly contract staff who earns very little money with little or no benefits. How then do you expect them to perform better.

I recently went through the he financial statements of the top 5 banks in Nigeria. Just see their enormous profit, yet bulk of their staff are contracts who earn nothing and CBN just kept quiet.

If our CBN regulatory department are doing their work properly, Andy bank who's yearly profit is above 100Bn have no business paying any of their staff doing core banking job less than 200k.

Funny enough, some banks have a yearly profit above 200Bn yet some of their core banking staff are been paid less than 100k monthly.
Banking in this country has become scary. Abi we should withdraw our monies and be keeping with us at home - Not advisable and I would not like to do that.

I even have an issue of serious concern regarding this banking problem with loan app currently. I borrowed money from FairMoney and it is getting to a month I have not paid back. I have the money to pay them back now but my transfers into my FairMoney account has not been successful. I wonder why. They had called me very well before and threatened to punish me for failing to pay. I think they have even reported me to Credit Bureau. They said they don't shame their customers to the customer's contacts like other loan apps do, something the government is actually currently clamping down on loan apps for.

My fear now is anything happening to my account or money in it, like freezing of the account or deduction of my money. Although I did not link my ATM Card to FairMoney for them to gain access to my account through. Someone said they can't gain access to my account without my ATM Card. Can they ask CBN to freeze my account through my BVN?

So where did the abstract money went to huh?

If you want to borrow money, their interest rates are from 35-39%

If you want to withdraw , people plenty for ATM,
If you want to deposit, people plenty inside the bank

Nowadays, POS guys are taking in TRILLIONS OF NAIRA from the small small N100 and N50, that people give them for transactions.

So now the million dollar question is
WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF OUR BANKS?
ARE THEY SOLVING OUR PROBLEMS? OR ARE THEY CREATING MORE PROBLEMS?
from my own point of view they are adding to our problems gone are those days when you feel relaxed that you have money in the bank right now I always tell people not to put all their money in the bank, some at home, get a reliable E wallet put some there or else... This is what I have been doing, there was a day i transferred 50k to my GTB account, made payment of things I bought through POS(18k) so I still have 32k in my acct just 1hr later I received un authorized debit alert of 32k I checked the details it was just POS AY LANG now how do I trace this the POS I used to make payment gave details like the name of the company, address etc see what would happened if I had transferred more than that there

[quote author=bonechamberlain post=116346013]You are one of thsoe who cause religious and ethnic preoblem in Nigeria.

Why single out Fulanis and exonerate other tribes?

I hate to do this, but I must tell you that the most fraudulent tribe in Nigeria are the Igbos followed by the Yoruba's. have you seen a fulani man involved in Yahoo or any fraudulent act before? this atrocities are carried out by mostly Yoruba and Igbo's.

Untill we are able to trash people like you from our Country, we cant have peace.

Nonsense !!!
