There is nothing fantastic about what he said. The man when to USA and heard about contractionary monetary policy (a kind of macroeconomic tool) that the USA adopt for their federal reserve, and boom, the man(obi) just assumed that such policy can work for Nigeria.

What works for A is not likely to work for B. There is a big difference between an economist who understands every dynamism of both micro/macro economics with someone who is a trader.

Is it Tinubu that understands that dynamism? Or do you think any other major candidate has a different dynamism ?

Except you're about Atiku, Tinubu has already showed Nigeria some of his best cards in the likes of Fowler, Osinbajo, Fasola et al. How many of them ended up as geniuses to save Nigeria from the hands of the terrible economic drivers we have in government?

I would advice that we leave all this unnecessary grammar and face the fact. Nigeria should as a matter of urgency return to Agriculture. Here I do not mean paper agriculture, I mean practical mechanise farming. Can't Nigeria plant Rice and other grains to feed the entire African countries? Agricultural economy can survive even the worst economic recession. This is because at all times, the citizens will have enough food to eat and at affordable price.

The truth is that for long market forces have not determined the exchange rate of the Naira. The two tier foreign exchange regime is a fluke. It has to end. Let the exchange rate be determined by the forces of demand and supply

The Govt. followed your advise and saw how disastrous it is, they had to intervene when they saw how the naira was falling against the dollar.

If not for the CBN intervention, the naira will be more than ₦1500 against the US dollar by now.

If the exchange rate is determine by the forces of demand and supply, naira to Dollar might be close to ₦2000 right now

Your idea have been tried and it failed.

Nigeria is not ready for such a policy.

Well let me explain to you idiots. The Nigerian economy needs expansionist policies not contractionary monetary policies. The ley word there for those of you who have a brain is "contraction". you use contractionary monetary policies when your economy is overheating and there is inflation, like currently exists in the US. Nigeria's inflation isnt caused by an overheating economy, it is caused largely by imported inflation due to plummeting exchange rate. You dont solve that problem by contracting the economy, what you will then induce is stagflation or depression, a situation where the economy is contracting due to tightening of liquidity in the economy and inflation is still rising (because the primary cause of inflation (devaluating currency) is not adressed.

It shows the man and his team have absolutely no understanding of how economies work!! I am dissapointed in Utomi if he has a hand in this, I thought he was more intelligent than this. If only Obi knew how much of a fool he has just made himself look in front of knowledgeable people!!

Contractionary policy has its drawbacks. It will be more damaging to variables such as GDP, unemployment etc. The decrease in consumption spending by consumers and in investment spending by businesses decreases the overall demand for goods and services in the economy. With decreased production, businesses are less likely to hire additional employees and spend more on other resources. Tell him to stop talking on what he does not know. Opponents get stronger

The quality of living under Abdulsalam is better than the quality of living under Obasanjo, the quality of living under Obasanjo was better than the quality of living under Yardua, the quality of living under Yardua is better than the quality of living under Jonathan, the quality of living under Jonathan is better than the quality of living under Buhari.

How much did Obasanjo meet the US dollar in 1999 and how much is it when he was handing over power to Yardua in 2007?
