Was patiently waiting for you usual thinly veiled, attempted to be hidden in flowery English, anti-Igbo vitriol

What Yorubas and their numerous Obas couldn’t do, an IGBO woman known as PROFESSOR UJU ANYA is doing 10times over.

Shame on the tribal bigots
Thank God our Obas are not crude, crass, toxic , bigoted, vile, disgusting and inhumane like your ipob sister, this is not who we are or hope to be.

Carry your disgusting ways to the world stage on your own for the world to see.

It will get to you soon
And then, regrets will be there to console you
The problem with folks like you is the inability to think deep about the consequences of your actions. The queen did not start the Biafran war Ibos did.
Yesterday she was talking about colonialism, today it is Biafra. Is the woman sane at all?

I hope she doesn't lose her job for that. Although, she might get away with it because it is america where people like trump are free to say what they like in the name of amedments that were made when men and women were beyond irrational.

When Igbos gather in a village square meeting, the people with rational minds are valued more than emotional minds that can stampede the community into regrettable adventures. I am a proud Igbo man who is highly valued by his umunna, his age mates and town. I don't need anybody's validation to be Igbo.

I agree that British authorities exploited Nigeria economically and they committed a monumental blunder by amalgamating independent and socially-heteregenous parts of what is known as Nigeria.

However, the British didn't gather young soldiers who executed the coup that truncated the first republic. The British didn't tell some soldiers to kill some politicians and leave others alive, which planted seed for the civil war.

It is a fact that the British protected their interests in Nigeria by throwing support behind Nigerian Army against Biafra. Eventually, Biafra lost the war with heavy casualties figure.

However, several years after that war, the British authorities can't be held responsible for the poor performance of the governors of South Eastern States. There is nothing stopping South East from still being another Japan if its state governors would invest instead looting.

It's not bad to fall down but it is pathetic to remain grounded instead springing up to prove your oppressors wrong. An example is the way Igbo businessmen prospered in spite the Awolowo-inspired post-war economic sanctions.
I agree with you. I am Igbo but we cannot continue to blame the British role in the war.

However that war will be blamed for everything that has gone wrong with Nigeria. The crop of leaders that emanated after the war buried the country. Imagine Abacha hoarding our common wealth in Switzerland. This same Buhari defended him.

Again, we cannot hide from the fact that proponents of that war implemented some anti Igbo agenda. What I make out of this is that there should be a proper reconciliation, integration and a chat for new agenda.

I blame Nigerian Leaders for all he mess. Even Britain may regret after seeing how bad we have become.

Most of you gloss over the magnitude of what happened on the 15th of January 1966 when political leaders of the North and South west were murdered in cold blood. You simply skip that part and jump to the war that followed.

I am sure you are matured enough to understand that north and south west leaders killed during the coup was not responsible for the mal administration that came up after the war. The looting spree from Abacha and Babangida was not because of it. The poor administration from Buhari was not the same reason. How can you fight to keep a country you cannot manage properly together. To me it's madness.

Even Indonesia moved past Nigeria. My argument is that the proponents of the war have failed Nigeria and is still failing. Take that to the bank

Wow! What brought the likes of Abacha and Babangida in the first place if not the actions of those January 15, 1966 killers?

Well, unfortunately you may not be able to make the connection between the January 15 coup and the coming of people like Abacha, it all depends on how much you know about the subject.

I do. I am a good student of history.
Coups were not only carried out in Nigeria. If you want to learn, go google all the countries that have had coups and read how they emerged great nations. Then come back and argue with me.

Using the coup as excuse for your underdevelopment is simply a crass display of ignorance over how to build a nation. Sure

There is nothing stopping South East from still being another Japan if its state governors would invest instead looting. Believe me, if South East States were developed infrastructurally with industries, well-supervised schools, well-planned towns, etc, countries of the world will respect the region while other regions in Nigeria would have driven by envy to also perform to catch up.

It's not bad to fall down but it is pathetic to remain grounded instead springing up to prove your oppressors wrong. An example is the way Igbo businessmen prospered in spite the Awolowo-inspired post-war economic sanctions.
Your submission is valid, likewise the others. You may never know how many destinies were destroyed because of that civil war. And the trauma remains till today. My family's destiny took another trajectory that has remained a pain to this day. We lost the most brightest young and educated menbthat in the war which has left a big hole in our family's lives. As at the time of the civil war, one of them was the most educated and influential and successful person in our town. He promised to train my mom's children. But he was killed fighting for one Nigeria. And when oil was later discovered in our family land in the 1970's, we lacked educated person or persons to stand for the family to negotiate. That space allowed land grabbers to intimidate my family and stole those opportunities. But, if that my uncles were alive as at when that happened, they could have stood for us. And also the difficulty my mom went through in training my older siblings. Life would have been a lot easier for her.
