This year's ASUU strike has pushed me into researching about admission opportunities in private universities.

And I discovered that there are some courses we study in the public university that are mere waste of precious times. Because you can also study them in private universities with the same amount you will spend in a public school.

I decided to put it out here to help someone. What's more, they accept low jamb scores. So don't write off that your low Jamb score.

Listed below are the courses and their total fees.

This is real and confirmed. I just decided to post for others to benefit. All information I give is for free. Check the breakdown of fees below.

Just go to National Open University then do your Masters in a conventional school. It is a Federal School and you can't spend beyond 200K a years (even if you try, it's not possible to spend over 200k, which includes paying someone to do your assignments)... Private university would also demand some other cost and payment plus your full time and cost of living. If you have the money (at least 1.5 million naira yearly) go to private university.

You can't work and be a full time student in a private school (that am sure is located in a remote village). NOUN has free textbook and handouts sha. Do as you wish, I was just giving my experience.

Federal university is a 60k a whole year (two semesters) so going from less than 100k a year to millions is a big step for 80% of those currently attending Federal University. It is from the cost perspective I gave my opinion.

This is the same mentality drawing us back in Nigeria. We go to UK and work 20hrs per week as a student but in Nigeria, we say it is not practicable.

I always thought private schools charge millions but the reason why I made this post is, I discovered that there are courses that are at par with what state universities charges if you factor in cost of accomodation and transport.

Federal universities cannot absolve all students in Nigeria. My post is for people who has low scores, waiting for ASUU to call of strike before they can process their admission while private universities are rounding up the session.

The jobs are in-campus and are hourly jobs; an initiative of the school management not that you will go outside the campus to work.

Clam down. They can afford overseas but they prefer to be dealing with ASSU? Visa and flights ticket are very cheap not to mention tuition fees? You are the one over reacting with your Nairaland mentality.

EDIT:
Sorry, I sincerely did noticed it was advertisment. Please open another ticket and continue. No vex. Sincerely.

Can Federal Universities absorb all jambites in a given year? No!! Even state universities are not smiling. Admission was offered in UNIMED to study MLS last year. Fees: 1.2m, acceptance 80k, hostel 170k and you still need to carry okada enter school daily. Paid for acceptance, did screening but they didn't allow instalments.

Then, I discovered a school that the total package is 800k for same course. Which decision would you have taken? You also have opportunity to get certified before graduation in 2 digital skills of your choice.

Like I posted initially, instead of spending 5years to study any course not in the medical field because of strikes here and there, reason the private school way.

Many of them are new and cheaper, before their facilities start getting old you go don graduate.

This is not an advertisement sir. Just putting out info for people who may find it useful. There are many cheap private universities out there if you do your research well. Just that TAU is where I know in and out and dem never get too much problem apart from food.

If you have been following the trends online recently, you go know the high rate at which students have been (Jakpaing) grin grin

I am just generalizing that as a Nigerian student in UK we no dey stay idle. But for Naija here we go say it is not possible to combine work with studies.

Thank you for the drilling, I have learned 1 or 2 things more.

Our Government wants to render us redundant in the future. They gave their children quality education and close the universities to the average Nigerians.

In the next 5 to 10years, their children will head key positions in the country.

I am determined to escape the poverty line. We are going to rule this country together in the future.
