Hope2014: Bruce Willis has dementia and is no longer acting. All the films coming out this year featuring him are the ones he shot last year before throwing in the trowel. After this year, we will no longer see new Bruce Willis films. |

lusid: Most stories are based on something Watch the boys. It is a mirror for what happened in the US during the trump years. But you won't recognise this if you don't follow politics. Every alien invasion story is about colonialism - where an advanced society subjugates other societies for their resources. The terminator series is about an age old question - what will actually happen if computers achieve sentience? The first star wars movie is straight up John Campbell heroes journey. Lucas admitted that much. And the hero's journey exists in folklore of multiple cultures. I remember season 3 of battle star galactica. It was a clear allegory of the uprisings in Iraq during the US occupation. I have always said the xmen is really about the 69s civil rights, with Charles xavier and magneto as MLK and nation of Islam malcolm X What often happens is you may not see the messages if you were not in the particular political climate. lusid: Yep they also do. Adding to what others has said, if you watch superhero adaptations like Watchmen (both the TV show and the movie) you'll see mirrors of life and reality in it. Even the Dark Knight and recently Joker are good examples. 1 Like |

Top Gun: Maverick From the first one hour I've watched last night, so far it's really good. Great but I ain't seeing the hype Hollywood critics and audience were showering it. Around a 7.5 rating for me so far. And I know I might not like the final 1hr when the dogfights begin.  At least they've got their fighter classes right and theoretically how to embark on the mission. Na D_day execution remain. |
