I got a job in the Netherland (Amsterdam) and one in Canada (Toronto). The offers are pretty much alike and it is the same job role. But I am so confused. I do not know the offer to accept.
I am looking for the best place to settle with my Wife and stay for a while and hopefully get citizenship. Does anyone have experience with these places. I need advise based on experience

Go to the Netherlands. Netherlands will give you access to the EU and the climate is infinitely better.

It depends on the job type. Hiding info on the type of job won't help in getting you the right advice

Go to Canada, Canada offers the quickest path to citizenship, you will work for 1 year and process permanent residency, after 3 years of permanent residency you will become a Citizen.

It will take you longer time in Netherlands, plus you must learn Dutch to proficiency level.

Lol.. not hiding anything though. It is not even about the job for me. It is about the countries. I am a software engineer. So whichever I go to, I am likely going to see more opportunities.

You people are so damn lucky! Honestly, I envy you folks.

Choose Canada - it's the only western country that offers a quicker path to citizenship.

Apart from Language then Holland is the best
Calm, located in the EU
Easy to travel around EU with just your Holland work permit.

All the people telling the OP that Netherlands is better should explain the pathways to citizenship for Netherlands.
That's his ultimate goal, not travelling around EU countries.

With your Dutch resident permit, you can visit additional 50 countries without a visa spread across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa. Also, Netherlands is built in such a way that you do not need a car. Unlike Canada, where having a car is a must. Just have your monthly travel card and you can visit the whole country unlimitedly. Compare to Canada, Netherlands is lively. Canada is really a lonely place, people hardly mix, forget the diversity rubbish, its all advertisement.

If you have kids, then you must choose the Netherlands. ''Helicopter parenting'' that is prevalent in North America is not here, and society and laws are structured in a way that encourages kid's independence. Kids as young as four go to school with their bikes unsupervised, you'll be free as a parent to do other things unlike Canada where letting your kids as free here can make the government take your kids away from you. Also in Just two hours from Rotterdam, you are in Paris, one hour to Antwerp, and flying around Europe is cheaper than going to Abuja by bus. It is common for Europeans to travel to another country during the weekend, personally, I visit at least 20 destinations annually, within Europe, Africa, and the middle east, yes flying is that cheap. Check out ryanair.com, or wizzair.com, you will see flights as cheap as 10 USD both ways.

See, matter plenty. But if you minus English, I honestly don't see why you will choose a deep freezer over the Netherlands. I was there for a friend's wedding, thinking I would migrate, but men, spending a month there was enough conviction that where I am is better. But it is just my opinion, yours may be different.

That one sef de. If he asked about which country to secure their citizenship faster, then yes, he should go to Canada. But if it is to enjoy life, then obviously it is not Canada. To Nigerians, Canada is definitely a better place, but comparing it to the Netherlands? come on, you don't do that tongue

Honestly, I don't understand our obsession with this citizenship of a thing. See, if you live in Europe and work in a professional jobs, earning good pay, you would enjoy yourself well and still retain your original native citizenship without caring about being the citizen of your host nation.

Your children, who were all born there or migrated with you, will still grow and acquire the necessary skills for a successful careers in EU without still being a citizen of the host nation as long as you are doing well. Lots of foreigners are living and working in EU without being the citizen and still enjoying the best Life could offer.

For me o, enjoying my life still remains paramount. If I have the same job opportunities in Canada or Ireland or Holland, I will definitely choose Ireland and then Holland in that order. Europe is too connected and you could easily drive from one European city to the next and the quality of life is not bad with Clement weather. Just as some one mentioned, transportation and commuting in EU is the best. You don't need car to get by. Europe is good just that there are no tailored migration policy, except for highly skilled people, as we have in Canada.

Europe is bae

Dey scam yourself. I know of 3 friends. Two based in UK for more than 6 years now. She's processing Canada permanent resident now.

The other lady in Germany, she got rejected by Canada already and planning to apply again.

I Know of an Indian friend, doing his PhD, and working as a software engineer in the US. The guys is just gathering his documents for Canada permanent resident now.

How will you compare resident permit with a sure path way to citizen ?

I got offer with a good logistics company in a European country immediately after my MBA in Europe, and same time canada permanent resident, then calculated the long term opportunity for me, my wife, children and relative.

Even my village people go deal with me if I no go for my Canada permanent resident.

As someone that have been to both, I'll still recommend the Netherlands. Canada is overrated, and the country is so damn boring. You'll literally loose your mind. Just one of Canada's province (Ontario) is way larger than Nigeria.

The kind of boredom that when you look out of your window, all you see is vast nothingness, empty streets and miles upon miles covered in snow with no one in sight.

If you can live in the forest alone without human interactions, then Canada (and scandinavia) is probably for you. With a population of just Lagos and Kaduna, but around 10x larger than Nigeria, meeting people becomes difficult.
