Sin against the Holy Spirit is not the sin many people take it to be. For instance, it is not merely going against God as in not obeying the commandments of God. It is a willing and continual rejection of the Gospel of truth. It is deliberately resisting the commandments of God.

For instance, an evangelist came to you and after your time together you realised that fornication can lead you to hell. Now what are you supposed to do? to keep away from the act, isn't it? But you kept away only for a while and then returned to the act. You have not sinned against the Holy Spirit yet.
But if you continue to live in that sin and death meets you, the sin will not be forgiven. You have sinned against the Holy Spirit.

Let me give you another example of sin against the Holy Spirit in Acts 7:51, it reads,

"You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you"

This statement was made by Stephen to the council of Israel called Sanhedren. From their forefathers till the time they had been killing the people of God for their selfish reasons. They were not ready to change their ways so they resisted the Holy Spirit by their hardheartedness.
It is this hard-heartedness to yield to the Holy Spirit that constitutes sin against the Holy Spirit.

The Lord Jesus Christ told the pharesees that sin against the Father and the Son can be forgiven but sin against the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven either in this world or in the world to come, why because such sin is deliberate rejection of the truth, they weren't ready at all to listen let alone repenting from their evil.

Some pastors and men of God are guilty of this! They speak and defraud unsuspecting members of the public their hard earned money using holy spirit, saying that the holy spirit said when he didn't.

When you sin against God, his son( Jesus Christ) would beg on our behalf thereby making the sin against God to be forgiveable.

When you sin against Jesus Christ, his blood would beg on our behalf thereby making the sin against Jesus Christ forgiveable.

When you sin against Man, and you pray to God or Jesus Christ for forgiveness, they'll forgive you thereby making the sin against Man forgiveable.

But when you sin against the Holy Spirit, no one would speak on our behalf before the Holy Spirit thereby making the sin against the Holy Spirit unforgivable.

The sin against the Holy Spirit is termed blasphemy. The kind of blasphemy is not the one that some people are quick to kill cos someone misspelt the name of their dead god.
It has to do with disregarding or denying the existence or power of the Holy Spirit. Technically, it means you deny the very essence of your salvation and hence, no magic anyone can do to help you.
