Why did Africans allow the British kill their traditions to the extent that post colonialism a lot of Africans are even ashamed of their traditions.

Most Africans term their traditions to be fetish and distance themselves from it while embracing western culture and beliefs.

Today as evident during the funeral rites leading to Queen Elizabeth II burial are british traditions been done in full glare that dates back to 1775.

Now the Western media has embellished most of the rites(EXCLUDING RITES NOT VISIBLE TO THE PUBLIC) but if it were taking place in Africa they would have demonized it and our holier than thou pastors will further rubbish their fellow Africans.

AFRICA SHINE YOUR EYES AND VALUE WHAT YOU HAVE WHILE BEEN PROUD OF YOUR IDENTITY.

People are changing their names from Ogun and Ifa to Olorun and Mohamadu, perhaps because they prefer those traditions to their own.

After all, though Ogun might be the God of Iron, there's no iron factory using its ideology and Ifa seems to not be able to compete with Western philosophy.

And for your information, UK abandoned it's Gods and tradition for Christianity too.

I swear this is why I like India the took technology from there colonial master but the didn't leave there religion behind

India was far more advanced than we were before they were colonised. India had books from like three different religions before the Europeans arrived with theirs, and they had built magnificent buildings the like that Europe was in awe of while we had no books and mostly lived in mud huts that have not stood the test of time.

Definitely NOT but we have very positive things from our tradition that we have abandoned.

The period i was in my village leading to the burial of my late father. I learnt a lot from the elderly ones while blending in.

The bitter leaf plant has so many uses depending on use of stem and leaves versus root.

The cassava leaf plus others antidote to snake bite.

Ewedu is a delicacy in the west but used in my place plus other leaves and a clayish substance for women who have frequent miscarriage.

What am saying is that we should amplify our positives.

We even have scientific acts that astounded the whites.

I used to be weary of our local traditional rites given recurrent misinformation by our local religous.

Today i know better and evil is everywhere in the world.

It did not "made us to abandon our tradition". We saw a tradition that was better than our own so we abandoned our own for it.

Listen to us after all voluntarily choosing to communicate in the language we adopted instead of in our own languages. No one is making us speak their language or not speak our own language, but listen to us speak their language. Why do you think that is?

The revolver any day for me but i do hear the local bullet proof vest works. Not sure i want to put it to test though.

Rather than chase boys for yahoo-yahoo, i expected government to create ICT huns to harness the potentials of these guys such that oversea firms start outsourcing services to us.

I recall the story of the guy that hacked both FBI and PENTAGON command center. America hired the guy to work for the FBI.

Its our call anyway how we want our future to go.

How far has that gotten them?

Compare India and China, India is nowhere as developed or strong as China. Heck, No country on earth except for the US can stand up to China. East Asia in general is far more developed and stable than the rest of Asia because East Asians are nowhere as nostalgic or traditional.

Only those with a sound knowledge in computer science with electronics, computer engineering, electronics or electrical engineering with programming have the kind of knowledge that can be useful in the type of ITC centre you mentioned.

I have posted this before that Nigeria should start to teach in schools our traditional technology before the Europeans can to the area called Nigeria today, so that we can research with 100% local materials in order to improve on them, like melting of Iron ore. This was what the Europeans did that gave them all the tech they have today.

And all in the name of what? Tradition. The things that Africans justify all in the name of TRADITION. Tradition ruined Africa. The overly traditional and conservative lifestyle of Africans is why the continent is still the way it is. Our ancestors are dead. We shouldn’t be trying to emulate their way of life. We have to move past that.
