Diversifying Nigerian economy is not as easy as it sounds.
This APC led govt have done much harm to the economy right now. Whoever takes over have the difficult task of recovering the losses made and blocking all the economic loop holes through which the elites are sucking the economy dry. This is the only solution right now and only Obi happens to be the politician ready to do that. Others won't do it cos they will hurt their political loyalists .
As for phasing out petrol, let me remind you that the EU had the same plan and pegged theirs at 2030. Less than 3months into the Ukrainian war, they abandoned it and to my greatest shock, coal not even crude oil is the most beautiful bride over there now.

US is not a major buyer of our crude oil.
China have refused the green energy deal, India is towing the same path.
Crude oil have come to stay. Forget the green energy noise from democrats. Even the republicans are against it.

EU did not abandon it, it was or is a temporary pause because of the war. For now most of the oil and gas to EU comes from Russia hence the decision.
How sustainable is the wood you are talking about? How many woods will power EU? And considering the fact that it takes years for trees to grow.

I can't find the more heartless people in the world than people working in Nigerian government, at any levels. These people so possessive in making government all about enriching themselves that you will think there is a general course of stealing given to them before they are employed. Civil servants are even worse than you think, and they don't call each other out. More like if you defend me in my crime today, then I will defend you in yours tomorrow or I already did that yesterday.

No matter how we try to hide it. Politics is at the centre of it all. You can't lead this country without first being a politician.
Politics works in the same US because the leaders are held accountable, among the three Presidential candidates, it's only Obi that we can hold on the jugular if he fails to deliver because he is sponsored by the common masses. Atiku and Tinubu are elite sponsored and you know that. So politics is at the centre of this whole thing.

Some countries like Japan have no single drop of oil but their economy is powered by a highly skilled human resources as a result of years of investment in science Education.
Others are not blessed with highly skilled population but have deposits of natural resources through which they raised fund and developed their human resources. This was possible because their leaders are accountable.
Nigeria belongs to the latter but unfortunately our leaders derailed during the 80's.
We do not have enough skilled population of now that will drive the economy outside oil, the few we have are not empowered because of corruption and nepotism. May I remind you once again that our federal universities are on lock and key. Is that how you develop your human resources?
Simply put, we need our natural resources to develop our human resources and diversify.
Remove oil today and Nigeria will collapse in 60s.

EU plan to remove fossil fuel in less than a decade but in 3 months of Russian embargo, they collapsed the plan. Does that not pass a message?
May I also remind you that crude oil have more uses than mere powering of vehicles.
70% or more of crude oil the Chinese buy from us is used industrially and not for automobile.
It's the same US that the Republicans (during Trump regime) resuscitated US crude oil exploration.
Like I said, green energy is just a mere noise.
